to think that Tesco stocking three lions football lettuce

is going to the extremes of football.

I mean the lettuce cost more than the regular bags of lettuce, and I was like why would anyone buy a bag of lettuce cause the bag is emblazoned with three lions and pay a premium for the privilege!

I'm German, I'd buy it and make Sauerkraut out of it. LOL

Must tell my English DH.

Or failing to spot it's not cabbage I'd kick it to bits...cos that's what we'll do to the squad.

Oh they had bags of cabbage as well kitty.

Ask your DH if he fancies that bag of lettuce for his dinner now that its got three lions on it!

OMG amidaiwish! I bought a pot of parsley and the same thing happened-emblazoned with the bloody union jack!.I didnt realise at the time that it's to do with the football.

It doesnt sit nicely in my kitchen and I dont want people thinking I am the sort of person to buy Union Jack Parsley

I'm sorry ladies, but surely you take the plastic wrapper off your herbs?

PS Tesco is the root of all evil IMO.

You can get 3 lions lettuce?

Report
borderslass · 09/06/2010 21:01

you can also get mars bars with the England flag on the wrapper.

victoriascrumptious · 09/06/2010 21:06

Surprise: That is the problem. It comes with a plastic wrapper which when you innocently take off you are left with a plant pot with a Union Jack painted on!

Oh FGS...

Think you'll find the union jack on the herbs is about the product being British not about football! We don't have a British Football team!

It was on offer so I bought it. Was cheaper than any other salad per 100g. I was embarrassed

In our local supermarket you can buy a football loaf, tissues with the Swiss flag on and special Hopp Swiss cheese these are the only things that DD has spotted and wanted so far. Think yourself lucky.

marketing gone bloody mad-but we really only have an arguement against it if they then dont have regular packaged lettuce also on sale.

Well I brought the salad (it was cheaper on offer) and my ds who usually refuses salad ate it cos it was England. So good result for us!

ha ha Earplugs, i do realise that, is it really about the basil being british??? i really think it is about football... maybe not, i guess they would have used the St George cross?
now i am confused
( i am usually a waitrose shopper and they do not do such things!!)

Kitty, I'm attempting to make sauerkraut at the moment after a cabbage glut. Started it yesterday but despite lots of squashing it down I still just have a pile of salty cabbage with no liquid. What am I doing wrong?
