Feel like a kid back at school, its just so unfair.

I work at a hospital, did an extra shift because they were desperatly short of staff.

I pay to park at my work, monthly out of my wages. but have to park in a certain place which is about a 15 min walk to work there and back (no problem except when you have had a horrendous shift and cant feel your feet, tis a loooong way)

Any hooo, where i have to park has big fuck off barriers that go down at 7pm, so no way in or out of car park after this time.

My shift ended at 9.30pm so i parked else where on the hospital premisis and didnt get the chance to tell security (didnt even get a cup of tea that shift).

So ive got a letter through from a debt collection firm asking for £60 to be paid.

I got a parking ticket which said, write to us within 14 days and fine will be £15, so i did...heard nothing til now!

Bastards. Wont be doing extra shifts again as all the extra cash will just go on parking fines.

bastards. am

That's typical. Parking is a joke these days and a money making scheme at best.

We have an armarda of parking staff that go around town and the area in cars looking for 'wrongly' parked cars.

Oddly, they park on double yellows, take a photograph, write the ticket, tap in some details, blah, blah.

You should content it with the debt collection agency. They should have responded to you - how were you to know if you were expected to pay or if they accepted your letter without a response. Even if you have to pay it should only be £15 as you made representations which to the best of your knowledge were not rejected.

I had something VERY similar happen to me (also work at a hospital),... on Xmas eve - and was working an extra on-call shift!!!! Can you believe it!!??!! Got my manager to email the parking ppl but still got a letter from bailiffs - I just copied it, and handed to my manager saying you sort it out, I helped them out by working the extra, so I didn't see it as my problem. Luckily never heard anything more so presume it got sorted?!?!

Do you have a copy of the original letter you sent to them?

Happens all the time at hospitals. They take money out of your wages to pay for parking, but there is never enough parking spaces. Especially if you are on a late shift (so mainly affects shift workers like nurses).

And then you finish your shift at 10pm and have to walk miles in unlit car parks.

I paid my last parking fine (also because I did an extra shift as they where so short of staff) by using the 2p and 1p I had saved in my Bells whisky bottle. I made sure she counted it in front of me, and I also made sure I went to pay my fine in work time.

Nice little money maker for the hospitals, car park fines for staff and patients/visitors.

Yes - it is a real money spinner. Charge the staff £50 a month to park in the staff car park, but there are only about a third of the required spaces, then if you park in the wrong place (not obstructing anyone), charge them £40 and threaten repeatedly.

Our Trust doesn't even provide free disabled parking spaces, they charge the full rate and issue tickets if the person stays over time.

Then threaten you with disciplinary action if you arrive late because you can't park - even though you are travelling from another clinic that you have just done at another site........and so it goes on...
