One of my children was singing a song this morning. Fortunately she got the words wrong. The "Rude Boy" one. Now forgive me for sounding like Victor Meldrew but this song would never have got airplay a few years ago or the one about "riding on a disco stick". Also, the content on television programmes before the watershed on programmes like "Hollyoaks" beggars belief. It's no wonder I have witnessed behaviour by parents and children that is nothing short of shocking (there was actually a physical fight before the end of term outside one local oversubscribed school, and the language the both parents and children were using to one another was foul). And since when was "bloody" downgraded so it is no longer a swear word and is used on national radio. Anyway, rant over, I'll go and listen to some Frankie Goes to Hollywood

I always find it slightly disturbing to hear young girls singing some of these songs - rude boy is a fine example!
I think it is totally inapporpriate and such songs should be on albums only!
That is apart from the fact that it is just utter racket anyway!

I think for some of them to a child the lyrics either mean nothing or something completely different. Dd1 thinks a disco stick is a silver pogo stick that has flashing lights. She wants one for her birthday.

I do think that they should only be played after watershed though. Particularly the videos.

Blaming the music for behaviour is ott. That's not music that's bad parenting.

Well yeah i suppose, some of it is more in your face than others though!
Must admit i love the kings of leon and they sing sex on fire so maybe im not one to talk!
Mind you i dont play it in front of dd and i still think stuff should be kept to albums rather than on the radio!
