To take deliveries to a town on the other side of my village, they could also bloody well delivery IN my village.

Much excitement when the new Waitrose opened not 10 miles from us. Hurrah! Ocado delivery again which to be fair I've missed since moving back up here.

Bloody website says 'we don't deliver to your postcode....' and just caught them delivering in the next town on.

your village isn't posh enough

Mouseface - Sainsburys are at the bottom of the hill, they cancelled a deliver to me in Feb because the weather was bad and the stuff was coming from a store 20 miles away emoticon
One Tescos delivery man told me to meet him at the bottom of the village so he could drop the shopping off and I could carry it home - to be fair they did sort it out and I suspect he was sacked sent for re-training

I was holding out for Ocado....

I'll have you know my village is the height of posh, we're the very Candleford of the area...

The fact a Waitrose has opened won't affect Ocado deliveries as Ocado doesn't deliver from Waitrose stores: they have their own regional distribution centres. You might be able to use the "Waitrose Deliver" service from the Waitrose store though if you have a look at the Waitorse website. It's not as good as the Ocado service though.

sobs I know I've just read the Ocado thread

But there was still an Ocado delivery in this very town....and if they are delivering here, why aren't they delivering 2 miles away????

shakes fist...kicks dustbins...eats pigeons etc etc

It's so frustrating! I do online because DS (11mo) is disabled and the mere thought of supermarket shopping with him sends me into a state of panic!!!

I have explained this to Tesco (our only option) on numerous occassions when they forget to substitue something I really need or cancel my delivery! Fcukwits.

Write to Ocado directly - explain the situation - you never know, they might listen to you and agree that the current postcode policy for your area makes no sense. You can but try. (Good Luck!)

Oh nice ladies, thank you for caring when I'm quite frankly on the slippery slope today,

For some reason I'm in a very fighty mood - you would not believe the things I've been stroppy about so far today.

Ocado website tells me it doesn't deliver to my postcode but I have seen, with my very own eyes, a van making a delivery on my street!

I don't even particularly want to shop at Waitrose, just annoys me that I can't.

ProfYaffle

My point exactly, it's inflammatory that's what it is, flaunting their chiller vans and yet point blank refusing to bring me some lovely butter with sea salt flakes in...

Madascheese, that is so sad - you should fight the good fight and write to Ocado about the injustice. I would be lost without my Ocado, lost I tell you. Yesterday mybaby was sleeping so I left a little note on the buzzer asking Ocado not to ring it. They tiptoed my order into the hallway and tiptoed away again. I love them so.. and they gave me a free tub of Strawberry waitrose ice cream. Best.Day.Ever.

Tellhimhesdreaming

That would be my perfect day as well. You've just made me cry with that story.

Perhaps will go and throw myself on the mercy of the drivers if I can find them...

Fio - I have checked, you can shop online an collect from the store...what's the point in that I ask??

Sorry Mada daaaaahlink, but if you have a Sainsbury's in your "village", then you don't live in a village.

(scrapes cowshit off wellies emoticon)

arf! Sainsbury not 'in' my village, that would be selfish and anyhow I don't want any of that development nastiness in my back yard thank you.

I have no excuse for online shopping other than I essentially dislike actually interracting with people in real life..

If you go on the Ocado website you can register for them to let you know when they are delivering in your area.

Madascheese - Hi, I'm Ocado's rep on Mumsnet. I'd love to help you; if you let me know your postcode I'll look into this with our area Routing team! Thanks.

Madascheese - If you give me just the first part (e.g. AL10, which is where we are), I should be able to do something with that, and not endanger your identity!

Yep, ocado don't delvier here either. I cna only assume that 3 houses down have a different postcode as I see their delivery van there all the time Unless the driver is in the middle of a sordid affair with the woman there...

Try your local Waitrose, too. We have our deliveries direct from the store, not via OCado.

DE4

Madascheese - Right, I've had a look, and it seems that DE4 is too big an area to be able to tell if we could deliver to you. It would appear you're right on the border of our delivery area (which explains the vans in the village), but unfortunately I can't see how far out of the area you are without the second part of the postcode!

If you want to give the second part, then I'll be able to see what we can do, but if not, I understand. I'd love to help more. Sorry.
