To think that young people are nutters?!

Me & OH are talking. About those clubs reps in the clubbing holiday places. Are we right in thinking that they are fricking nutters?! Who in their right mind would enjoy staying up all night getting pissed only to have to then go to work all happy faced a few hours later?! Who can even DO that?!

Are we being unreasonable to think they're crazy and we're some of the few sane 21 year olds in existence? Or are we being unreasonable and nutters for not thinking this is do-able?

The staying up all night and getting pissed bit is OK, it's the going to work later that makes them wack jobs.

Erm...seems like a pretty apt job for someone who enjoys staying up all ngiht and getting board, lodgings and some cash for it

What better job when you're young...?

I think it means you are getting old .

I went to a club recently for the first time in a while. I didn't enjoy it and went home early. It was too expensive, crowded, had crap music and you can't talk. I prefer the pub where you can sit and have a good chat while getting pissed.

I was hoping that wasn't the case coldhands!

I always go home early when clubbing, I don't like it because it's way too past my bedtime...

Thats what I was thinking too! I felt like I was a sad old woman for thinking it . Did appreciate my bed when I got home though.

I think you're right to say they are 'fricking nutters'.. I used to enjoy a typical night life that comes with being a student nurse so I'm not a prude in any way.. Having children definitely ages you though..! Last time we went to Crete on holiday we were staying in a busy resort but it was the holiday reps who were by far the biggest annoyances on the whole island.. We were trying to relax around the pool and there were three guys (all reps) who were either still drunk from the night before or had started drinking on their day off from 10am.. They were chasing around the pool as if they had god given rights to any female in there - they were picking girls up and throwing them in. It was more sad to watch than annoying actually..

I guess that makes me a fuddy duddy.. but holiday reps are now one of my pet hates..!

We haven't even got kids yet! I've been trying to find seasonal work so went on a forum and this guy mailed me and was like "You two can come work for me as club reps!" er... no thanks!

I feel so old! I'm not even 21 yet and I'm getting ready for bed at 11 if not 10 most nights after work! How they do it I don't know!

I also hear that some rep companies insist on good health insurance as they're prone to ending up in hospitals and/or doctors surgeries with exhaustion and dehydration! Crazy crazy people!

On behalf of young people I would like to confirm that yes, we are nutters

Though personally an early night in a snuggly duvet with a hot chocolate sounds a much more appealing idea... I am 18, not 81, I swear!

I worked on cross-channel ferries for a (very brief while) ... we worked 15 hours a day, with a six hour and three hour break, the regular crew ran their breaks together and got pissed (a completely sackable, never-work-in-this-town-again offence btw). I couldn't understand HOW they could do this, as I was so tired I was practically hallucinating, just working and passing out during my breaks. I would have been 20, I think ...

Hehehe... Some 6-8 years ago I had a similar lifestyle myself when I was working in a pub in states - crazy long hours, lots of drinking after (sometimes also during) work, clubs afterwards and then back to work with a horrible hangover. And doing all over again!

Craziest time of my life but then I was free, single and had no children!

No regrets but I'm glad I don't live that sort of life anymore (must be getting old .

Hehe just been reading this thread as I was a club rep in Ayia Napa for a few years and yes, I did go out a lot while I was there when I wasnt working, mainly because my aparatment was the size of a shoebox so probably would have got cabin fever if I stayed in.......but I have to say that I was working 5 and a half days a week with most of those days being from 08.30 til gone two/three the next morning, so I did appear haggard/hungover some days but that was just extreme tiredness from work lol also cos its such a pressurized environment (seriously you have no idea how much pressure the holiday companies put on you) when you have free time you do tend to party quite hard to let off a lot of steam or you'd go nuts!
Now that I am older, married, work in local gov't (I know....) and am ttc our first child I find it hard to stay out past eleven.......I feel so old lol.

Young people are nutters anyway. They either wear very little clothing in the winter so we can all see their little goosepimpley purple bums, or they wear enough clothes for an Artic expedition in the summer, only again, halfway down their arses. They should wear sensible heels and a nice anorak that the can easily removed if it gets a little warm. They sit on street corners drinking shitey cheap beer all night instead of sitting at home on the sofa in slippers and a slanket, with a cup of Yorkshire and a packet of custard creams watching Corrie. They stay out until the small hours, when they could be tucked up in bed warm and toasty.

I don't understand young people at all. Probably because I couldn't be arsed to be one. Being old is so much more comfy

I work in a nursery when they need me and get knackered out during a morning shift, let alone the whole day

I'm going to die working with kids in a hot country every day!

So I think it's been concluded that most of us young'uns are nutters but those of us who enjoy are hot chocolate and duvet are old for our years

Old for your years maybe, but far far warmer, cosier and wiser

nappyaddict · 23/02/2010 01:40

Will be fun though. What country is it and who with?

Report
PorphyrophillicPixie · 23/02/2010 08:07

Lol!

I don't know what country yet just being hopeful! But with my OH as long as we both get offered jobs!

I do feel old beyond my years now haha I'd prefer a nice lake/mountain resort to a sunshine one, earlier nights with small amounts of drinking on occasion and good access to watersports. That'd keep me happy for a long time! None of this clubbing till 5am and boiling beaches for me
