I've become a bit obsessed with watching Baby Time on Discovery Home&Health since becoming pregnant/having DD.
They have a thing on called "Bringing Home Baby", which is an American show about the first 36 hours of having baby home.

NONE of the brands or anything were blurred, but when the woman went to breastfeed her baby, they pulled the camera up, and when they did focus, they had blurred her nipple and the babe's mouth. They happily showed the babe having her nappy changed, and no blurring there.

It's really, really annoyed me. AIB a bit U or is this just stupid and annoying?

it's sending out the message thst to expose breast or worse, nipple, is the worst thing ever, and bf is ok if it's done discreetly. OTOH if it's an american prog i think they tend to be quite over the top about this stuff.

but also, maybe the mum wanted it that way?

But surely if you didn't want it shown, you'd ask them not to film the babe being fed? She was quite funny (new mum struggling with getting her boob out of nursing bra!)

It just seems so silly that they'd show a nappy being changed, but not a baby being breastfed. As if pooey baby girls bits are more suitable than a bit of nipple in a babes mouth. Gr.

it is probably the result of the fact it was filmed and produced in America. Remember this is the country where NBC got USD $700k fine for showing Janet Jackson's nipple.

They can be so prudish about breasts and breast feeding. I used to use Fertility Friend when we were TTC and the pregnancy boards are full of ladies horrified at the thought of BF and most especially BF in public.

But i agree, it is stupid. but then i get annoyed when they blur out the product names too.

Isn't it awful that breastfeeding is compared to a pierced nipple on stage? Tis so sad. No wonder people have such a weird attitude towards BF.
