AIBU?

To be pissed off that driver couldn't have cared less?

Walking home from school today, 2 boys walking, ds3 in pushchair, absolutely chucking down with icy rain, roads all wet and water streaming down them.
Car coming up the hill fast, I stood back and gestured to the massive puddle at the side of the road to alert driver to the fact that if she didn't slow down we would all get soaking and, yes, she just carried right on and completely soaked my boys from shoulder to toes and me from the waist down.
AIBU to think this was really inconsiderate and that being late to pick up your dc from school is no excuse for driving that carelessly and fast on a school road?
Grrrrrrr

YANBU. My driving instructor told me that this actually counts as a collision (he was surprised but had seen it in his handbook or something) and I think people can be prosecuted for it.

Hope you're all warm and dry now

Yes people can be prosecuted for it - I think it is driving without due care or something along those lines, sadly though I suspect you cannot report it after the event so getting her number and reporting it another day probably won't get you far.

What a bitch. You should tip a bucket of dirty water over her and see how she likes it.

Perhaps she had her eyes on the road and didn't see you gesturing

Report

maybe not, but if she had her eyes on the road she should have seen a huge puddle and people by it and realised that if she went through it at speed, she would soak them!

If she didn't notice the puddle or people, that's worrying!

I bet she didn't see you

She may well have noticed the puddle but not the people, she may not have known how deep the puddle was, who knows?

this has happened tome many a time including when a sewage thingy was overflowing leaving me covered in stinky sewage water (Ok it was years ago I was in sixth form but I would still like a word with the driver who thought that was a nice thing to do!)

i remember last year seeing on the news that a girl was reported and i think went to court because she drove past a bus stop full of schoolchildren and soaked them. her passenger had videoed it and they were laughing and cheering.

poor children and poor you. some people really dont think how their actions affect others.

If she didn't see the pedestrians, she's not a competent driver. More likely she just didn't give a toss. Selfish cow.

i agree, if she didnt see a woman with a pushchair and two children walking then she isnt very competent and shouldnt be driving

It's illegal, you know. I'm pretty sure it is now listed as a driving offence. Go on - get her!

Thank you for all your support! How nice to have a rant and find that there are so many nice MNers out there who agree that she was a bitch inconsiderate

I was too busy trying not to swear in front of the boys to think of taking the reg no.

ds2 was wearing a bright red anorak so if she really didn't see us then I would worry about her driving a car full stop tbh but now I've aired my grievance on here I won't hold a grudge [sanctimonious emoticon]

So you're going to "tree" her car, then?

She's a lousy driver to go through a big puddle at speed, regardless of who's on the pavement. It could be concealing a pothole, or she could start aquaplaning. She shouldn't need you gesturing not to drive like that, but she should learn to drive safely before she has a nasty accident.

Go on, report her - she could get a £2500 fine:

I hate behaviour like this, personally, I think it's really ugly.
