.... in a race I was running this morning?

I think she'd had a Paula Radcliffe moment - there was an orange-brown smear in a very unfortunate place on the back of her leggings. The course was muddy so at first I thought it was mud, but then looking at where it was, I realised it probably wasn't .

Now if it were me, I'd like to know I had poo all over my bottom for all the world to see, so as I went past her I suggested, as gently as I could, that she might want to move the jacket around her waist a bit to cover her bum. She really didn't get what I meant, asked me what was wrong with her jacket, and I didn't know how to explain.

She asked the guy she was running with what was wrong, so hopefully he saw and explained to her... I was so embarassed I raced off ahead!

Was I wrong to say anything? It all got more complicated that I thought it would! I mean, how could she not have known that she'd crapped herself!?

Would you rather have been told or left in blissful ignorance, until you got home, saw the mess and realised everyone else would have seen it! Not to mention the mess she would have made of her car seats!

Feeling funny about the whole thing.....

oh dear

i think the correct thing to do is to say "i think you sat in something you have a large stain" less embarassment for all than trying to explain its crap/blood whatever that needs to be covered up

Do people really do that when running? Really?

You did the right thing - few moments embarrassment for her better than the mortification if she hadn't noticed til she got home!

I'd rather not know...I think.

And I wouldn't have said anything, as I'd have been too

What colour were her leggings?

Well, quite, Riven! That's why I was so taken aback when she clearly had no clue what I meant!

I must remember that 'sat in something' line for next time... thanks littleducks.

Lynette - standard black running tights. Would you really rather not know, and have hundreds of people see?

Are you totally sure it wasn't mud? I would have said oh i think you have sat in something, that way she knows and she can also then tell herslef that you didn't know what it was.

WTF!? This is crazy! That really happens!? And what do you mean a 'Paula Radcliffe moment', did she crap herself while running??? OMG too funny. Well, maybe not funny but I can't stop giggling right now!

See this is why I can't understand these people who take up extreme sports.

This wasn't even extreme running in the slightest! Just a local 12km race, not even any hills, and the lady in question and I were two slow plodders at the back!

I know some professionals don't want to waste precious seconds on loo breaks when a world record is at stake, but that was hardly the case here!

Really still now sure how she could not have known. A 'wet fart' gone wrong?

i think id rather not know but would delight in telling others that they had poo stains

AnnieLobeseder · 24/01/2010 23:48

PO - well, not so much orange, but more reddy-orange to it than, say, mud, which is black-brown. More poo coloured than mud coloured, anyway!

Claw - age? Probably late 40s - early 50s.

Gah, enough now, all too horrid, will remember to use line about sitting in mud rather than my 'you might want to pull your jacket down to cover up a little', which clearly did not convey the right message at all!

Poor lady!
