Dp has just arr home with the post [he met post man a gate and took it to work] There was a letter for me cancelling a hosp appt [it was cancelled before xmas and new date was for next week] new date is for JUNE. So I am expected to be in pain for 1 week evey month till then. DP trying to be the voice of reason said 'It is a Maternity Unit maybe it was closed to peole to protcet women from winter vomiting bug' He got a rant. Am I being unreasonable that after cancelling 1 appt they should not cancel another and make me wait 5 months,
Am off to make Dp a cup of tea and give him my choc I was v mean/ unreasonable to him as it is not his fault Will men never learn to just listen and agree

hope its nothing too serious, seems a bit strange that you have to wait 5 months for an appt in a maternity unit though.

I had this problem with an appointment for ds, it was cancelled 4 times and took 6 months in total for him to get an appointment

presumably this is for a gynaecological problem?

yes the services are usually in the same location as maternity services

can you ring the hospital and see why there is another delay?

Also v mean to Dp for taking post to work, as if I never did this . What difference it would have made to get letter at 6 pm I don't know still feeling guilty I gave him my secret stash of choc from the ironing basket for his cup of tea so might be forgiven . Belle 4 cancellations and six months that is crazy hope your ds is ok now

Can you afford to have the first appointment privately? You can get seen this week if you can, then just tell them you want further appontments/treatment on the NHS?

It would be hard to afford but if really necessary I prob will go for a private appt but I try to keep emergency fund for the day that something might happen to dc [silly panicky mummy] I think I just saw red and Dp walked away, I did suggest that having another Baby might help [He not to receptive went green and turned on the news] It would be more fun then a hosp appt

Ds is fine now, it was a panic though, they were planning on operating on both of his legs depending on the outcome of a test. It was ok thankfully.

Tell dp you should practice instead, this should cheer him up

It must be v hard for a small child v worrying at least we have a voice. No Dp watching the news a blonde presenter he happy where he is I'd only join him to watch Steve Dixon DD is 7 months old he nearly afraid to practice still am in his good books as i gave him choc [4 years on he still can't find it never thought I'd like him to be some what undomesticated]

My daughter had an appointment cancelled last July and her new appointment was a couple of weeks ago! I think they were punishing us for daring to cancel but my husband thought I was seeing conspiracy where there was none!.

You shouldn't have to wait longer than 18 weeks from the day your GP referred you. I'd be ringing up and asking about that & you may suddenly find an earlier appointment becomes available

Thanks for that Betty I will ring again but in their defence 1 appt was within the 18 weeks as was the second [6 weeks] They keep cancelling due to unforseen circumstances now I do understand pregnant women get priority and have no argument there but assumed that they would do better with non pregnancy appts when they mess up some how. Am going to ring my Gp and speak to them maybe they can help or at least get me a private referal. Yes Fernie3 we are at the whim of a power hungery receptionist I am being unreasonable this morning Off to do the ironing to make room in the basket for more choc as am going shopping this evening
