AIBU?

to think that Prince William should NOT leapfrog Prince Charles to the throne?

Apparently a fair proportion of the antipodean colonials seem to think that Prince Charles should be missed out and Prince William be next King. However, roughly the the same number think the Queen should not make way for either of them, so it's not all bad.

I think Prince Charles should be the next King - poor bugger's waited long enough for the job, it would be a bit harsh to be ousted by his heir!

I don't care.

Are you doing some lazy research or something?

Don't really give a monkey's TBH, I think I am more republican than monarchist, however, I do tend to agree with you. He is a bit wafty but to be passed over in favour of your son would be a real kick in the nads.

I don't want any monarchs, but I especially don't want one who wants to be a tampon.

Am not a massive royalist, but I do like the history of behind it all, and it's far better than having a president.

I broadly agree, there are issues that Charles feels strongly about that are often very attuned with the British public, and I think he will make a good king when his turn comes.

I don't understand why people are calling for this, is it because he and Diana divorced?

I know journos arn't reknowned for their research abilities/intelligence, but surely if the OP is a journo (s)he will know that Wills can't 'leapfrog Charlie boy and this is all useless speculation?

PS, If you are a journo, can I just state how little respect I have for you, your colleagues and your 'profession'? Thanks.

Why does anyone care if the young, rich, slightly thick heir to an outdated concept takes precedence over the olf, rich, slightly thick heir to an outdated concept?

FFS isn't it bad enough knowing that in the next year or two there will be a royal wedding with that daft Kate M dolled up and sat like a toilet roll holder in a gold carriage without actually talking about the royals now?

Vive la revolution etc.

I don't care one joy about the family or succession.

I do think from what has been reported about him that he would suffer emotionally if he was passed over. From what I've read his father appears not to think him capable and has communicated that to him from a young age.

I think that's sad.

People can think what they like about who "ought" to get the job. The point of a monarchy is that we don't get to choose!

If we want to make it a popularity contest, then ditch them and become a republic. Then we can vote in whoever says what we like best, and it'll be our own fault when they're useless and shallow, instead of the fault of history and genetics.

TBH would have more respect for Charles if he put two fingers up to the whole thing, said fuck you lot, and then decamped to the Azores to live in a yurt, grew a ponytail and lived off the back of hus Duchy millions.

simon cowell could create tv show to choose the head of state based on ability to shout out r&b songs combined with a sad story about growing up in the north east
