AIBU?

to bin DS's babygros?

I'm trying to work out what to do with DS's outgrown babygros. They're in decent condition apart from the feet, which are quite bobbly from where he rubs his feet together or against the bouncy chair.

So, they're perfectly useable, and would be okay as handmedowns, but I'm not having any more. It feels really wasteful to just bin them, but with babygros being so cheap, no-one will want them, will they? Will the charity shop take them for rags?

They might do - could ask the charity shop what they think. They'd be sold for less than a new babygro in the shops so it could save someone a good pound or two to buy your handmedowns....worth trying before just slinging IMO>

How big are they? Just wondering if the local Maternity hospital could use them.

And yes, we give our old clothes to the charity shop in a bag marked rags. They then sell them on.

The charity shop will take them. I sometimes buy babygros for DD's dolls from charity shops. So much cheaper than proper doll clothes!

Try a womans refuge, charity shops will take them and sell them or put them in a clothes bin - most council recyling points have them. Do you get charity collecton sacks opushed through your letterbox ? See if you can donate them via Oxfam or Red Cross directly to the Haiti relief efforts ?

I've bought babygrows from charity shops before. Better than binning them.

Or Freecycle? Swapshop? Jumble sale?

I have had, used and been grateful for handmedown babygros, even bobbly-footed or -backed ones What are you doing with the other outgrown clothes?

Charity shop them! It's really hard to get second hand babygrows so I'm sure someone will appreciate them. As long as they are clean it doesn't matter about the bobbly feet.

Bertie - he doesn't have any other outgrown clothes - he's nearly five months and has yet to wear anything other than a babygro. I do have some tshirts and stuff that DS1 wore though, which I'll ebay / freecycle / charity shop depending on quality and how lazy I'm feeling!

Okay, will charity shop them - thanks everyone.

I collect 2nd hand clothing to be sent out and distributed for free in Malawi, there are other charities that do similar work in other countries. As long as clothing isn't full of holes etc bobbly is no problem! Please do not bin them!

Ah, I see - I was just going to suggest ebaying/freecycling/charity shopping the whole lot of clothes as a job lot. No reason you couldn't do this with just babygros & vests though.
