AIBU?

button through duvets are the work of the devil

Why do all duvet covers now all have a button closure ? I loathe them and cannot understand why they have universally replaced the infinitely easier and less time-consuming popper. Every nice looking cover has these effing buttons and it enrages me every time I change the bed

This was definitely the work of a man - no woman in her right mind would manufacture a duvet cover that made a bad job even worse

Guess who just stripped the bed at 7am then forgot about it until she came to bed...

A massive zip would do it.

My mother and i thought zips would be an excellent idea on our last button-duvet-related telephone rant

I think it is some sort of requirement on kids (or single) duvet covers to have buttons so it is less likely that kids can undo them, crawl up inside, and become tangled/stuck...

..but not sure why they would start putting them on all double/king covers too cos they are much harder work than poppers.

Poppers do come undone easier aswell as fasten easier tho' and I sometimes get my foot caught in the cover where they have come undone and that is rather annoying too.

But overall, no, YANBU!

But what's wrong with a child getting stuck in a duvet ? It's not as if they can't breathe in there, is it

I think this might be the answer. But I'll need to read it through a few more times to make sure

Fuck.

I've just remembered that our sheets are in the dryer.

And the duvet has buttons.

Bollocks.

Precisely Royalty - I can put on a sheet, pillowcases and duvet in the time it takes me to do up the frigging buttons

Maybe we should start a revolution...

every time i do this i get lost inside the duvet somewhere.....

the only way i can chnage a duvet cover is by multitasking and not thinking about it. if i do it on its own it takes forever as i get it wrong but if I'm on the phone at the same time and thinking about what to get for dinner etc etc i do just fine

Sorry, that wasn't random, just replying to Fibilou.

But I'm going to shuffle off now cos that's too serious for the light-heartedness of the thread!

I hate the button ones, esp as I start one end and DH the other. I do them properly - in that sort of inside out, look no buttons type way and he fastens them on the outside. i cna never be arsed to put his right even though it annoys me. Small things! To further the options dd has a Laura Ashley cover that fastens with ties, it doesn't get put on much as they always end up in knots. Argghhh!

the worst thing is if you dont do the buttons up before it goes in the washing machine, everything else in the washer ends up inside it.
How?????????????

DH's jeans got caught up in ours last night.
SO the jeans were wet and so was the whole bottom foot of the duvet after 90 minutes in teh dryer.
