To expect the delivery driver to get here before he tells me what state the roads are in here...

My shopping delivery saga continues...

half an hour later than the end of the delivery slot the delivery driver calls me, he's about 10 miles away and tells me he won't be able to get to me because it's all blocked. I say I'm not sure it is, as the main raods aren't blocked and traffic is moving about the village.

He tells me,I'll have to walk to meet him, I, not really going to be possible as I can't carry a big delivery all the way up the hill and look after my 3 1/2 yr old at the same time and in any case I'm confident he will get here as the post has just been delivered and all the roads are in fact clear.

He says, I'll never get there. I've been told not to risk my van....

I say well if I walk down to meet you, how am I supposed to get my shopping home. He says, it's not my problem.

My real problem is that this guys is 10 miles away telling me what the conditions HERE are like, he's not got here and I did check if he meant here or there.

ARRGHHHH, am I ever going to get any food delivered????

I did phone and a lovely lady said, 'we'll give you a credit on the account, he shouldn't have spoken to you like that and if he turns up or phones again don't arrange to meet him, we're sending out another delivery which should be there by 3.30'

He rang, claiming he'd got the village but the road was blocked (I know for a fact it isn't cos I can see the spot he was talking about from my window) I said I'd spoken to his head office and they were sending another delivery out so if the road was blocked he shouldn't worry. He was a bit miffed I think but that's for him and his line manager to worry about.

I did apologise to the lady at the call centre before I even started that I might sound a bit unreasonable and very kindly she said, 'you don't sound as stressed as I would have done in your situation'

Hopefully they will be here, we're getting to an 'oh my god I'm going to have to walk 5 miles to the nearest shop tomorrow' situation.

Lovely Tesco drivers just turned up!, I am deliberately namechecking them as although the first driver was a bit hopeless, their customer service and patience has been fab and they did make sure the delivery got here after they said they would.

Goes to forage in lovely shopping!
