YABU they are lovely, but i collect charlie bears so i am biased

I have a theory that they multiply in the toy box like Tribbles when you're not looking.

YANBU

I just do not get them

A bear each and something from their current fave TV show is fine, but we have a large plastic tub full of many toys (4 kids) and each one apparently has a story attached so cn't be binned.

Dust catching uselessnesses if you ask me but I could never get attached to any kind of bear or anything, just not my way.

YABU

My 16mo DD already has about 15.

I loved my cuddly toys when I was little. I used to line them all up in my bed at night with individual pillow cases for covers (so the duvet didn't cover their eyes you see) and there'd be so little room for me I'd fall out of bed.

Must be a girl thing, all of DS's toys appear to come with razor sharp edges for maximum damage to bare feet.

Yanbu they're a pain in the arse, everyone buys them for new babies but (most) babies aren't interested in them til they get to about three so until then, they sit about your house getting manky and sunbleached and mysteriously breeding until suddenly there's dozens of them taking up all the space in the toyboxes so there's no room for actual toys.

I do a cull every few months because otherwise we'd be overrun with them. How many cuddly sheep does one small boy need ffs?

YABU - unless they are on the bed of a woman aged over 20, in which case YANBU (at all).

I think i should point out before people have me down as a nut job that my bears are collectable and live in a display cabinet. But my ds has 20 or more now and he is only 18 months, he loves his bears.

Poppy - stop it while you still can - DS developed a love of penguins when he was 2, and I, God help me, thought it was cute and encouraged it. This was the result. He's now 22 & we still have most of them, though they have now migrated to the loft.

When my DD was young she spent the weekend with one of her friends Dad and stepmother. They took the girls to a car boot sale, gave them money and let them off by themselves. My DD came home with two huge carrier bags full of stuffed toys. Hideous weird stuffed toys no one would want. I nearly wept.

YANBU.

When I did my massive declutter a few months back I counted 76 cuddly toys. After some negotiation I managed to get DD to reduce this to 50...

Fifty friggin' toys! And they all have names and backstories and she KNOWS if they are not there!

Collectively they are known as 'the children' and accompany her on her imaginary bus journeys, school lessons, shops/cafes, dance displays/'shows'... it's almost OCD the way they all have to be lined up before any game can begin.

Possibly it's because she's an only and feels the need for company? Drives me insane, anyway.

I hate it when people buy them, (mainly MIL) even though I have said so many times NO NOT buy any more, we have loads and DS (3) loves them so much. DD (6) has never liked them though.

YANBU we used to chuck them out in their hundreds. Dcs were never interested in any of them. Just wished there had been an easy way of telling people not to give them as gifts!

Me too!!

DS has sooooo many!! I have got rid of some of my soft toys apart from a few I keep for sentimental reasons. But DS loves his soft toys so I can't get rid of them!

But I do understand what you mean, OP!

YANBU. Can't stand huge collections of the things. I've put all DD's in the bottom of her wardrobe becuase I don't like them all over the place and she won't get rid.

Whats really worriying is when another adult buys me a teddy for a birthday or Christmas. WTF am I supposed to do with that?
