Right hubby has his heart set on buying me a Pandora Charm bracelet for Mothers day from DD.. He wants to the buy me a charm from DD for birthdays and christmas etc... This to me is a LOVELY present...

I mentioned it to sister and mother who both think it is a stupid idea as my wedding ring and engagement rings are yellow gold and the pandora bracelet is silver....

Are they being unreasonable???
Am I being unreasonable in liking it??
Is there an unwritten fashion rule about umatching jewllry that I would be breaking...

if you like it stuff what they think!

Do they colour match their clothes to their rings/car/home decor? Sad....

My favourite jewellery is a mix of gold and silver.

It's a lovely present.

Ignore them.

there are probably charms you can get that are 2 tone gold anyway

Agree with MadameDeathstare.

My engagement ring is yellow gold and I have just bought my wedding ring, which is also yellow gold. I have a silver Truth bracelet! It looks fine!

Anyway, if you fill it with coloured charms you won't see much silver.

Yanbu!

I read somewhere that it's now considered quite chic to mix gold and silver. But really, who cares? So long as you like it, who cares what anyone else thinks? And if anyone still thinks that it's a "rule" not to mix gold and silver, remind them of the saying, "Rules are meant to be broken". Seriously, just enjoy your new bracelet!

Pretty sure you can get a yellow gold one too if you want; ask the Pandora folk. Enjoy it. I like them; DH thinks they are rather BoHo...boo hiss

K75 - they do do gold ones... But the price of the one I have seen was £1200.00 which is a bit out of our price range

My engagement ring is a white gold band with yellow gold band either side, and my one and only expensive necklace is a mix of yellow gold and silver. So no, they are being crazy fools.

Tell them they're showing their age... if it wasn't obvious already..and wear your thoughtfully chosen gifts with pride

Loads of the pandora beads are silver with gold on them - like a Christmas tree in silver with a gold star on the top.

I have a silver cupcake bead with the cherry topping which is gold.

They are bonkers.

Like with all fashion rules it depends how you wear them...but the ultimate rule is if you like it then you go for it.

Have to be honest I am not wildy keen on the Pandora bracelets - they are imho going through a bit of a naff* stage and I prefer tiffany or links for charms, although I do appreciate that these too went through through their own naff stages a couple of years back - I think it comes down to what is readily (and cheaply) available on ebay at any given time and since all these matters are circular it proves the point that you should just get what you like!

I was always told that you "can't" put yellow gold and silver together, kind of like wearing brown and black or blue and green, but Marie Claire says it so it must be true

How ridiculous... dread to think what they would make of my titanium wedding ring next to antique yellow gold engagement ring!! If we all followed these unwritten rules we would all look the same... They may need find something a bit more pressing to worry you with!
PS How lovely is your husband, v thoughtful x
