AIBU?

in thinking that this parent is on the game!

The mother of one of DDs pals was until recently working out of town doing I know not what until the early hours of the morning. Of course, lots of people do shift work so I thought nothing of it at the time. Now I learn that the mum is working from home as a masseuse. Again, that could be very innocent, but this lady's clients are visiting her late in the evening and at night.

I know I'm making assumptions as her previous until 3am job may not have been anything to do with massage but if it was I'm doubtful that someone with a sports injury or a stressed mum would be consulting a masseuse in the evenings/early morning.

So, AIBU... or are you thinking what I'm thinking?

how late at night?

My mil was an aroma therapist and she often saw clients in the evenings.

Obviously the working until 3 AM is less explainable.

If she really is on the game though and working from home then SS really should be informed as her children are potentially at risk.

All I am thinking, is you are going to get flamed for this! pmsl

I would have a problem with this if the children were in the house, asleep or otherwise. I think there's a safety consideration having strangers visit late at night.

YABU!

Her clients might be on the game though, that's why she workd those hours

why are you thinking anything at all?

with this amount of info about the woman you must be friends or is there something else you aren't saying?

My post is really one of bemusement, is it me being unkind about her (I have reason to doubt her skills as a parent so am biased). I wondered whether the unbiased MN-ers here would be raising an eyebrow or if its just me being OTT. Very tired at the moment and when I am I know that I don't always think rationally!

In answer to the question, yes, her DC was in the house when the mother was working.

I think you've out 2 and 2 together and got 5. Maybe she works til 9ish (not unreasonable for a masseuse fitting around other peoples work and commute) and goes out after work.

it's not the sort of thing you can bring up with a friend though is it?

And sorry but I disagree that people needing to make "ends meet" justifies prostitution - if she has children then she is putting them at risk if she is letting clients into her home.

I used to work as a masseuse from home and would often work in the evening as thats when people who worked 9-5 prefer to come. Nothing dodgy at all about it.

Thanks Toddlerama, glad to be put straight. I told you I could be OTT when tired!

As you were then ladies, I'll go and make a hot chocolate to calm my fevered imagination.

you're most likely really tired and perhaps are inclined to think the worst of this mum for off site reasons
not that many of us on the game though

but how do you know all this information ie that she's out until 3:00 in the morning and that she's working from home late at night. And just how late at night are we talking..

If she's genuinely running a massage business then it will be easy enough to check as the business will be registered under her home address.

OI MELTED! WHO'S SHOUTING?!

Sorry if I offended you Melted, I wasn't intending to "shout" on here, and no I don't know the woman (nor do I know anything about masseuse's hours, as has been proved). I'm actually not trying to bitch about it but was just, as I said, bemused. I'm grateful for the explanations and have learnt something new tonight.

Now Stripey, please will you move to my townn for my convenience?
