I mean- FFS its November! The anal weirdo family down the road who will not let their children venture into their front room because they make it look untidy have whacked up the tackiest decorations including an illuninated santa in a hot air balloon- wtf?

Its November- not even advent yet!

Yanbu.
I bloody love Christmas, but it is too early.

Not too early for mince pies though, no.
I have been fanticising about stollen and would have eaten some already were it not for hyperemisis. As soon as that abates, I'll be noshing.

If you think they need help perhaps offer to hold the end of the lights while they climb the ladder ?

One of my neighbours never took her santa and sleigh and reindeer down, she just turned them off.

And now they are on again!

worldgonemad, I will be right behind you! I love Christmas and manage to restrain myself until Dec, but on the 1st....I'm off!

OP - YANBU, even though I love love love Christmas, no decorations are up earlier than Dec although I do confess to being one of the people who has bought Christmas decorations when they come on sale in October

I always want to put up the decorations far too early but DS's birthday is a week before Xmas and it's not fair for his birthday to get muddled up in amongst Xmas celebrations, so we wait til afterwards. Obviously if he had been born on Xmas day we'd have no choice, but as it is, tis only right that we wait a bit.

I don't have inflatable Santas on the roof or anything mad, but I do love a nice Xmas tree and those tacky silver chains hanging from the ceiling

And as for mince pies, we have already got through several boxes. I haven't made any yet though.

YABU - the family you mention may have had the year from hell and need a bit of cheering up. We have some indoor light-up stuff up, mainly because I bought them yesterday, got them out of their boxes and couldn't be bothered packing it all up again for a couple of weeks!

And yes, it cheers us all up! I LOVE tacky lights, sadly we are not set up for outdoor lights but I love looking at other folks' decs!

Mine are going up this weekend, simply because it is the only weekend we have free before Christmas. There is no time during the week to do it either.

My friend had hers up 2 weeks ago but in her case it was because her dsd's were coming for an early christmas before going abroad with their mum

Mine would be up if I didn't have such a mean old husband. And horrible children that all have November birthdays.

I always wonder if they think they are a bit OTT when the decorations have been up so long that they have to dust them?

Im starting to put mine up in the next few days. I cant put them up when i usually would this year and if i dont do it soon ds wont have presents under the tree. Normally i would agree that its too early to put them up

apparently the dh was putting the lights on the roof with half his arse showing! classy ! well the street has spoken (actually a cul-de-sac and we are all very friendly) and general opinion is pure tackiness- with regard to both the nature and the timing of the decorations!

I have never put up my decorations before December but my Mum and Dad arrive today form Spain and I wont see them for Christmas. They are then off to the US so wont be able to do the decorating thing at home. I thought it would be nice for them. They will be down soon after Christmas as I'm going away and want to get sorted for that

Maybe others have excuses good reasons to put theirs up early, maybe they are nutters, who knows

Mine do usually go up on the 1st. This christmas isn't going to be a normal will be the first one without my db hence why im putting the decs up early. So they do actually go up for DS's sake
