..to get really annoyed at some Cbeebies programmes?

My DS loves Cbeebies, obviously and there are some fantastic programmes on there that are soooo good for children. However there is also a load of shite that my DS will watch (he would watch anything if I let him) but I REALLY REALLY hate. Carries and Davids Popshop? WTF is this crap? Is it just me or is Timmy from Timmy Time a spoilt little brat (I like the others, its just Timmy), Chuggington does my effing head in, as do the Numberjacks, especially number 3, another spoilt little shit!

New one, Guess with Jess, bloody crap, can't they just stick to Postman Pat which is great. Where has Something Special gone? Gigglebiz, excuse for Justin to prat about in more costumes and Dirtgirlworld? WTF is that creepy shit? Also the title sounds like some dodgy porn site.

Love Waybuloo, can tolerate In the Night Garden (except the episodes when Upsy Daisy 'sings' or the Tombliboos play 'music'), and others that I have a total blank on.

I think I need to step away from the tv. smile

Hmm you're right about Timmy although both dd and I love it blush. He is a spoilt little bugger. Carrie and David pass us by as dd is too young. Chuggington is ok though. What's wrong with that? Dirtgirlworld, well that's just freaky innit

paisleyleaf Sun 22-Nov-09 08:53:50

I'd be glad if Popshop wasn't on.

GeeWhizz Sun 22-Nov-09 08:55:44

Guess with Jess is very annoying but obviously ds loves it as he loves Postman Pat.

Jess doesn't talk in Postman Pat though so who thought that would be a good idea for the cat to talk and do bloody singing??

currycrazy Sun 22-Nov-09 08:58:14

have to agree.....especially about popshop.

i mean.........do they ever change their clothes??

they dance like your mum and dad would at a wedding........

carrie is way too bendy.......

Picante Sun 22-Nov-09 09:02:00

I think you lot need an education in Nickelodeon!

2shoes Sun 22-Nov-09 09:03:21

yabu
dd loves most of those

I don't know what half of them are, but am still ridiculously delighted that we receive Cbbc. When we lived in Thailand it was cartoon network or nothing. I generally decided nothing was the best option although my dd did have an encylopaedic knowledge of the powerpuff girls and professor Utony him (untonium). So, yes YABU.

Kathyis12feethighandbites Sun 22-Nov-09 09:47:38

I love the way OP has very carefully nuanced the thread title - 'SOME CBeebies programmes'.
Yes, of course YANBU to object to Popshop and Dirtgirlworld, though I beg to differ re bloody Waybuloo.
I have been known to chortle at Gigglebiz, especially the ice cream man one, though I accept I may be unreasonable myself on that one....

poppy34 Sun 22-Nov-09 09:48:06

Yanbu- also find Nina irritating on basis that no one over ten should have pigtails. And although I agree nickleodeon etc worse that still doesn't excuse popshop.

What has happened to tikkabilla?

Popshop is terrible - embarassing to watch, musically bankrupt and I second the 'dad at a wedding dancing'

Timmy, for example, is a twbrat

Dirtgirlworld = sick and wrong

and Tommy Zoom is beyond crap

Grandhighpoohba Sun 22-Nov-09 10:14:15

Does Clifford the big red dog not get a mention for being badly written, badly drawn american nonsense? I hate it! Oh, and Pinky Dinky bloody Do! A programme designed to increase vocabulary which makes up its own words? Absaloony, posatoony shite.

And yes, seconding the comments on Dirtgirlworld and Tommy Zoom.

ClaraJo Sun 22-Nov-09 17:41:13

Gosh, AIBU to not let my DS know that CBeebies exists?! We have 4 channels on our TV shock Oh, I remember the Sky+ years with DD1 & DD2. They were hell on earth. My girls' capacity to watch non-stop US drivel (how many episodes of Zack & Cody/Hannah Montana et al. WERE there, or was it just the same bloody ones over and over?!) never ceased to amaze me.
That said, DS would probably spontaneously combust if I didn't have spotify... That, and a couple of chopsticks and a biscuit tin to act as a drum kit and he's happy as larry.

Brunettelady Sun 22-Nov-09 19:35:32

Yeah I was going to mention about Carrie and Davids lack of wardrobe. We don't have Nickelodeon (thankfully. And I know the prgrammes are not meant for me and my DS loves them but I think they are crap!

Poppy, yes!! What is it about an adult wearing pigtails!! Wrong, wrong, wrong.

Hate Tommy Zoom too, although my DS had just learned to say this so thinks the bloody programme is great, Clifford also bollocks and Pinky Dinky Do, yes agree with all those.

Clara, I swore when I was pregnant that my child would NOT know about Cbeebies. That did go out of the window when my DH put ITNG n and his little face lit up every time then.

Oh and I forgot about Me Too!!!!! Worst of the bloody lot!!!!!!! I'm so thankful that my DSs new favourite is Thomas (Milkshake), although this morning there was a weird episode where there faces were moving when they were talking that the figures were moving as well. Is it just me or is Thomas better when it is the proper model set?

lockets Sun 22-Nov-09 19:45:16

My dh is did the sound on Guess with Jess, all the children who were in the trial group loved it, it is fabulous. My four dcs all love it too, especially the songs.

So yep you are being very unreasonable.

llareggub Sun 22-Nov-09 19:54:09

I think most of cbeebies is great, with Carrie and David being the obvious exception. DS is 3 is now madly in love with Peppa, so it is wall to wall Peppa Pig in this house and cbeebies has been completely overlooked. The only thing he watches now on Cbeebies is Come Outside, which he adores and I don't like at all. Our sky+ planner is now back to back Peppa and Come Outside.

Brunettelady Sun 22-Nov-09 19:55:24

Nope, I just don't like the animated cat. Much better as Postman Pats sidekick. Therefore IANBU, I just don't like the programme. I like Waybuloo as I think its cute when my DS gets excited and starts doing 'Yogo' which me or DH also has to do. All DC will have their favourites.

lockets Sun 22-Nov-09 19:56:31

Just realised I added an is to my sentence. It should say my dh did the sound [he is an audio mixer]

MollieO Sun 22-Nov-09 19:57:47

How old is your ds? When ds reached about 4.5 we switched to CBBC. I think Cbeebies is good for toddlers but not much beyond that.

lockets Sun 22-Nov-09 19:58:58

yep yabu wink sorry , but you absolutely are.

Y were NBU until you said Me too! Now UABU ...Me too = 6am shower in peace for me! grin

I am completely creeped out by Dirtgirlworld - their starey eyes and wobbling heads make me feel ill.

wideratthehips Sun 22-Nov-09 20:06:52

anyone think show me show me is cute? grin or maybe its just my ds reaction to it that is cute!

Ewe Sun 22-Nov-09 20:08:37

I think YABU because you're not meant to be bloody watching it, cbeebies = Mumsnet time in my house grin

The reason Carrie and David wear the same clothes all the time is because only about 5 mins of the show are changeable elements, the rest are just pre-recorded. This clearly wouldn't work with different outfits!

I love Charlie and Lola thought, it's my favourite and my best.

flabbyapronbelly Sun 22-Nov-09 20:28:16

wider, a big show me show me fan here too (and dd too). Love their take on the nursery rhyme characters especially. I lol at it every day. Really do need to get out more. I also do quite like Charlie and Lola, but am getting marginally annoyed with dd who has watched too much of it and now speaks just like Lola. I absolutely definately want juice mummy pleeeeez!
