Recipe of the week

smithy's roasted beetroot: low-fat, dairy-free, gluten-free, nut-free and generally nutritious and virtuous. This one-dish wonder is delicious and uses up some seasonal beets. What's not to like?

To think that Kate Moss was wrong

...to say that "nothing tastes as good as skinny feels".

Well for a start there's chocolate...
cocolepew Fri 20-Nov-09 13:09:06
And toast with peanut butter.

YANBU at all and my size 14 arse is testament to that fact.

I have two words for Kate Moss:

roast potatoes

She obv hasn't sampled the delights of a chip butty (thick white bread with proper butter) & tommy sauce <feels the butter dribble beween fingers> mmmmmmmm

Maybe cocaine affects your tastebuds?

IIRC, skinny feels chilly and bony, and now always makes me think of illness.

Give me chocolate any day

how the pro-ana and pro-mia sites must love her
She isn't known for her intellect or cooking skills anyway.
Stupid cow.
Bread sauce, roast potatoes, green peas and gravy. Mmmmmmm.

Bring the silly woman round my house, I will force feed her my acclaimed chocolate brownies.

Grown men fight over them.

Actually, forget that...bring her round to my house, I need a new hatstand. She has all those bony bits that stick out so should do the job just fine.

And I'll eat the brownies.
Where will you put the umbrellas Miggsie?
dittany Fri 20-Nov-09 13:17:12
She forgot chips.

Does Kate Moss eat chips?
cocolepew Fri 20-Nov-09 13:17:56
Kate Moss only eats air and tissues.
Miggsie Fri 20-Nov-09 13:21:03
I'll get Gordon Ramsey round to stand in a corner...when he opens his mouth, they'll be plenty of room for the umbrellas.
OrmIrian Fri 20-Nov-09 13:23:26
Well I liked being skinny (well slim - nearest I ever got) very much. It did feel nice.

But it was nowhere near as nice as lots of things taste. Which is why I am no longer quite so slim <sigh> Taste buds are wicked things....
Confusedfirsttimemum Fri 20-Nov-09 13:23:29
Things that taste better than skinny feels:

Chocolate brownies
Chocolate
White wine
Red wine
Steak
Chips
Cottage pie
Cookies
Asparagus dripping in butter

I could go on, and on, and on.

Silly woman. What she really means is "nothing tastes as good as being rich and famous feels to me." And I'd still rather have my life (and size 14 bum) than hers...
BalloonSlayer Fri 20-Nov-09 13:27:23
how does she know anyway?

It's not like she's ever been fat, is it?

If she had just dieted from 16 stone down to 10, I might - with a massive effort - just be able to bring myself to dredge up a glimmer of interest in her "intellectual" prounoucements on how much better it feels to be thin than fat. But only a glimmer.
Some people genuninely don't enjoy food that much, it's just fuel to them.

I feel sorry for those people. Food makes life nicer.
InMyLittleHead Fri 20-Nov-09 13:31:06
I agree with her [hides]

She is obviously thin but she doesn't look ill. I read somewhere she's a size 8 which for her height is not freakishly thin. A lot of people eat too much. Also, it seems to be OK to slate her for her views on weight because she's skinny, whereas if someone who was bigger was quoted as saying 'I love being a size 18' no one would say stupid fat cow, etc.
dittany Fri 20-Nov-09 13:32:42
I read somewhere it was a Weighwatchers slogan so she probably doesn't deserve the whole blame for such a witless idea.

Being thin has earned her a huuuuge amount of money though.
Knownowt Fri 20-Nov-09 13:34:46
What are skinny feels and where can I buy some? wink
Confusedfirsttimemum Fri 20-Nov-09 13:35:02
Seriously? Ok, so all the comments about chocolate were in jest, but seriously, you agree with her?

The implication is that, when looking at any piece of food, she weighs up whether she would rather eat it or be a little bit thinner. That is the sense in which that phrase is used on pro-ana sites and I don't believe that even Kate Moss is badly-read enough to not realise the provenance of the phrase. I don't think she can realistically argue she meant "a king size bar of chocolate does not taste as good as being slim and healthy". She means that she monitors every single bite that goes into her mouth.

Links The simplest way to insert a link is to enter the web address (URL) surrounded by [[ and ]]. So type [[http://www.mumsnet.com]] to display a link like www.mumsnet.com. If you want your link to display text other than the web address itself, leave a space after the address then add the text before the ]]. So "Look at [[www.mumsnet.com this page]]", would display "Look at this page."
