to have posted this on freecycle?

(78 Posts)

I have offered some stuff on freecycle over the weekend as we are moving soon and need to clear out. It included DD's old all-terrain pushchair and a few large toys.

Anyway lots of people replied, and despite my explaining in the original 'offer' posts that I use the 'fair offer policy' (ie waiting 24 hours to give those without a home computer time to respond), one woman emailed me five times with increasing arseyness wanting something and demandong a reply with my contact number, and another woman three times. All within hours of the post going up.

All things are now off to new homes so I put up this 'taken' post - "These have all now found new homes. Can I just say again that I use the 'fair offer policy' as set out in the rules and etiquette file - so it will always be at least 24 hours before items are given
away, in order to give everyone a chance to respond. Anyone who sends multiple
emails within this time asking for a decision will just be ignored."

Anyway now the arsey woman has emailed me again and I don't want to read it!

Oh go on & read it..... and tell us what it says grin

Feenie Mon 16-Nov-09 21:44:06

Aw, go on - open it and then reply, telling her exactly why she won't ever get anything you give away until she learns some manners!

ReneRusso Mon 16-Nov-09 21:44:23

Some people just don't get it do they. She's probably the type to try and get stuff for free then sell it on ebay and pocket the profit.

oooohhhh open it and tell us what irt says!

oooo hate pushy people

alicet Mon 16-Nov-09 21:46:34

Yes tell us what she says!

I get pissed off with this too and it is a sure fire way to get ignored. In fact I would rather go to the hassle of taking to the charity shop rather than giving to someone so rude and entitled

I was a bit slow (as in 2 days) to post the 'taken' message, but even so... Surely nobody sends individual replies to everyone who wants something? You'd be there all day.

Ok I will read it <<grits teeth>>

deepdarkwood Mon 16-Nov-09 21:47:26

Oh, yes, defn open it and tell us what she says. It does amaze me that people on freecycle don't seem to realise that they are more likely to get things if they talk politely to the person who's giving them free things...

well you either open it, read it and let us help you compose a suitably scathing reply
(unless arsey woman actually apologises)

or you delete it, unopened, and never let it trouble you again

louii Mon 16-Nov-09 21:48:14

Its a shame that there are always people who ruin freecycle.

What did her e-mail say??

busybutterfly Mon 16-Nov-09 21:48:34

Cheeky bint. Her not you grin

It says....

"THAT IS A INSULT AS IT SHOULD BE FIRST COME NO ONE HAS EVER SAID YOU MUST WAIT 24HRS TO GET A REPLY MY DAUGHTER IS ALL WAS ON THESE MESSAGES AND SHE HAS NEER HAD TO WAIT 24HRS FOR ANYTHING."

louii Mon 16-Nov-09 21:49:53

Oh dear god!

oh ffs, can you link her to the official "fair offer policy"

or, explain veeeery sloooowly, to her why you do it that way
freecycle has NEVER been first come first served, although i realise a lot of people use it like that.

twat

shock Its not first come.... Its who deserves it.. stupid bint

Ponders Mon 16-Nov-09 21:50:43

shock

SolidGoldBangers Mon 16-Nov-09 21:50:52

Well you could email back, 'It's always interesting to discover that there are actual brain donors on Freecycle. How much did you get for yours?'

ravenAK Mon 16-Nov-09 21:51:46

Shouty! grin

I think I might be tempted to forward all her emails to your local moderator, actually, with a covering note, & let them explain the fair use policy.

alicet Mon 16-Nov-09 21:52:01

No don't bother explaining anything to her. Just don't waste your time.

Instead forward her email to the mods so that they can deal with it. And take a note of her email to ensure that you NEVER give her anything in the future

Poledra Mon 16-Nov-09 21:52:04

Niiiiiiiiice!

Roffle at SGB smile

Ponders Mon 16-Nov-09 21:52:18

You can report arsey people to the mods, can't you?

ReneRusso Mon 16-Nov-09 21:52:23

She is ignorant of the whole freecycle ethos. I would be tempted to try and get her struck off the group.

Feenie Mon 16-Nov-09 21:52:49

She won't get that, SolidGold! grin

stressed2007 Mon 16-Nov-09 21:54:11

defo forward on - problem posters get banned. They really don't want people like this hassling those giving stuff awaya - they will just stop giving.
