AIBU?

This morning DS, 19 months and fresh out of the shower, did a poo on the carpet...

... and once I'd picked it up and flushed it, I was sat there laughing until my sides hurt.

He just looked so hilarious, buck-nekkid, damp hair sticking up, dragging his towel behind him, walking to his room to get a fresh nappy on and get dressed, when he suddenly got an odd concentrated look on his face as he passed the mirrored closet. He stopped briefly to admire himself (Mr. Vanity - he can't pass a mirror without waving to the baby in the mirror, occasionally even blowing kisses!) and then he suddenly squatted down, and did a poo! Took me completely by surprise - he was down for about 3 seconds and then up again and kept walking.

I told my girlfriend who is a bit, well, fussy, and she said I should have told him off, and then when I said "but it was so funny!!" acted all disgusted with me and was full of dire warnings that he'd do it all the time now since my reaction was clearly amusement rather than disgust.

Now, diarrhoea on my carpet wouldn't have made me laugh, but a nice tidy little poo did, especially the admiring look he gave himself before walking on...

That made me laugh too actually. How could you tell off a 19 mo who is not potty trained for doing a poo when he's not wearing a nappy?

I did wonder....maybe AIBU for finding it funny?

I had to laugh the other day when ds (18 months) was pottering around in our garden nekkid. He came to the back door, leant on the door frame, grinned cheerfully at me and casually peed into the house !

That's a great idea !

I mean she doesn't live here so I couldn't have... neither did I leave it for DH .

DD did a similar thing at my mums house once, she was running about outside naked, then suddenly ran into the house, squatted down in the utility room and did a massive poo, and looked really proud of herself

She was fine until we all started laughing, then she cried, poor little thing!

Oh no, poor little mite!
I have to say DS looked inordinately proud of himself. The need to poo didn't faze him in the least, he literally, lightning quick!, squatted down and did his thing and got up and walked off.

Then came back and looked at me quizzically as I was laughing so hard I was crying.

I should have posted this on the 'toddlers are weird' thread.

But even though I meant to put it in Chat, it's a pretty good AIBU

I was expecting this to be a 'so what should I do about it' thread...instead I'm laughing right along with you.

I think, although I do not yet have a toddler to test this theory on, that you either have to laugh at stuff like that or lose your mind!

No not at all, my ds is potty trained and one day we were in the garden and he needed a wee but someone was in there so i told him to wee in the drain, a few mins later i turned round just in time to see him squatted over the drain about to poo i managed to get him to the loo in time but it was soooo funny that he almost poo'd in the drain, still laugh about it now

That would be funny if I had to post on Mumsnet to ask what to do about a poo on the carpet!

Poo is funny... at least baby poo.
