AIBU?

sexist shite or me being precious?

I am a member of a forum that is mostly blokes - www.theroadster.net

there are a small handful of women on it only.

Someone has posted this

I want it removing, but I know from previous experience I will get shouted down by blokes saying it is coz I am jealous, not as pretty, yadda yadda. All the usual lazy, ill-thought out responses really.

Also I know I will get very little to no support from the other women on there, given that a couple of them have already posted that they don't mind it.

am I being precious?

You are not being precious, no. But if they are too thick to see that it is a load of sexist shite, then you'll be banging your head against a brick wall trying to get it removed.

a bit (sorry!). I keyed in "dance" into the box in the link - quite funny actually.

Well, it is sexist shite, but I doubt that anyone over there will care or remove it.

I got strange looks when I mentioned at work that I found the nudey calendars on the walls quite offputting.

One of the moderaters has offered to remove it, but a couple of the women have said they don't mind.

Urgh... just noticed that one of the blokes has more or less said he's using it as a wank-aid (vom)

A wee bit precious maybe. Doesnt really bother me tbh.

Of course it is sexist shite. But they won't take it down. They won't see why it may be funny but the humour is based on oppression and control of women. Meh.

I wouldn't care about it

and nudey calenders? wouldn't care either, would maybe add a male one though

Eh? I put in touch your toes and one of the bints gave the other 2 a wedgie?!

Also something I typed made them give me the finger!

I think some of the blokes are putting a wee bit more than 'touch your toes'

I typed in

have you no self-respect?

and they all shook their heads... oh dear.

I don't think you're precious. It's horrible. And the one on the right should wear a size bigger shorts, they look really uncomfortable and are giving her a muffin top despite her slim figure!

at Fruitbeards 'have you no respect'.

Trinity Rhino - a well, I find them unprofessional (even if they're christmas gifts from suppliers), especially as they're not tasteful nudes, but rather cheap, iyswim. I don't think they should be hanging in an office, especially when customers are coming in.

I think a bit U. It IS sexist, but also I suppose to be expected on a 'blokey' forum. It is so annoying when some men trot out that lame old thing about being jealous though, they just can't seem to get it

I suppose a lot of it is to do with the way men and women react to this sort of thing. some men actually find that sexy, whereas if someone posted the same thing on here, but with three muscly blokes in thongs rubbing cream into their chests, we'd all probably just go 'Arf!'

To clarify the cream-rubbing, I typed in 'clean the car' and the girl took off her bra & rubbed cream into her boobs Poor deluded creature cannot follow a simple instruction.

yabu..

if you post on a male dominated forum you have to expect that sort of thing...i don't think the men are thick...they just like porn....most men do.

sympathy - but not sure what to say. I look at a forum that's mostly blokes and noticed a real laddishness wey-hey-ness about it (stupid comments about a good looking woman who won a race, that sort of thing). sadly it just put me off.

but, to answer you q - no you're not being precious

As opinion seems fairly divided, I best just keep my mouth shut then

I'm with WidowWadman. I don't think there should be nudey calendars of either sex in places where both men & women work. Cheap or otherwise. I don't want some random woman's fanjo in my face, as it were...

In the same way I don't want semi-nude women OR men in suggestive poses in cheaptatty newspapers.

But on a forum you don't 'have' to look at it so not so clear cut.

I typed in "self-actualise" but they shook their heads

I tried "Read Germaine Greer" and one of them returned with a copy of the Sun

I suggested they learn philosophy, and they just waved at me.

Given the turn Germaine's taken lately I'd say the Scum is probably the place most suited to her 'all women are shit except MEEE' burblings...
