AIBU?

in objecting to hearing my neighbours shagging in their dining room

We often hear our neighbours having sex. It's horrible - they both make so much noise it's like a porn film audition. We don't get on, at all (long story) and we find them generally quite inconsiderate noise wise. Their doors and windows are always wide open, all weathers, and we can hear everything - pots and pans clattering, singing (him, loudly and badly), loud music. And she smokes skunk in the garden of an afternoon....Relations between us all are strained to say the least but there have been no rows since a dispute last summer...
On Friday they got back from the pub at 7.15 pm(I think), closed the curtains in the dining room adjacent to our back door (tis a terraced house - we are v close together at the back with kitchen windows facing across a small divided yard) and proceeded to shag loudly. We were in the garden - though not our kids thankfully. AIBU to think that this is not on??

I have sex in my dining room and am not a bad neighbour, I of course sound like a very good porn film audition. Smoking drugs is not on though. Sadly the other annoyances are just part of living on top of each other.

If it happpens agains shout "For heavens sake do you have to shag so loudly?"

Smoking drugs would bother me less than the noises.

I am a lovely neigbour actually, they all got homemade mince pies and chutney from me at Christmas. And I made soup and casseroles for a neighbour when she was ill. I now dont have neigbours so can make as much noise as I like.

They were definitely shagging And is it really ok at 7.15 pm on a summer's evening with the window open? I am less bothered about the drugs - just find that a bit strange. But the shagging could be a problem if it happened again. I have an 8 year old. She would be curious and very persistant in finding out what was going on.

Our door and their dining room window are about two feet apart.

Agree with lynette. Prefer the second-hand happy smoke to the sounds of sex. And yes it is a bit inconsiderate to be loud that early when your neighbours are just outside.

i once heard my mum and dad when I was a teenager...it was horrible. Heard mum say "don't worry about me, you just finish".
God, I'm shuddering now and that was 35 years ago.
However they were not in the dining room.

I would ask if you could join them, and see what their reaction is. They might learn to then be a bit more discreet in the future!

Can't you make it obvious that you can hear them, like banging on the door or something? Are they not embarrassed? Common as muck....

Think you should just try and out-do them next time

DH and myself can sometimes be a bit loud and we have to try and remember to make sure bedroom window is shut or everyone outside could hear DH climaxing (he is VERY loud - sorry, tmi! ).

'is it really ok at 7.15 pm on a summer's evening with the window open?'

Well its not illegal, i would have put some music on or hinted loudly that you could hear them, like getting as close to the window as poss. and shouting 'whats that noise? sounds like someone having a panic attack next door, go and knock dear, see if they are ok?'

Just how loud is it when you shag with thw window open then? I mean, I can hear conversations in the street if the window is open, but presumably things from inside a house don't sound so loud from outside?

ROFL at deaddei's mum though

Too busy laughing to post advice just then.

I would recommend:
*Bursting into a round of applause when they finish
*Stand outside loudly discussing which partner you think may have been overexaggerating how much they enjoyed it.
*Make some score cards and hold them up

Had to princess, they were my mum and dad. (or were you talking about the neighbours?)
And my m & d were OLD parents.... bless them, long gone now, but a memory which couldn't be brought up by the vicar at the funerals.

We had similar one sunday morning. DCs were outside on the trampoline and we heard loud amorous sounds coming from upstairs next door. I have always told the DCs to be quiet in the garden on weekend mornings - clearly neighbours didn't follow the same rules. DCs were listening totally fascinated so I made them come inside. After the event DS#2 asked me 'mummy, what were they doing?'. I can only hope the performers heard him
