To think that Phones 4 U is discriminating against ....well most people?

Have you heard the new ad for 'phone 4 U'? You have to have 50 plus people in your phone for them to sell you a specific phone. They only want popular people. Now I thought it was a gimmick until one of my charges went in as he thought the same. Turns out he did not know enough people so they would not sell him the phone. I can understand a credit rating check etc but how can they get away with this? I know that this is not the be all and end all of the world but I am annoyed!

Publicity stunt?

differentID · 24/06/2009 18:42

not a very good one of it is!

I can't stand their ad campaigns anyway- makes me want to never ever buy a phone through th ecompany.

Yeah but.... couldn't you just fill up your phone book with all sorts of numbers? Like the plumber and the speaking clock and whatnot?

Strange offer

OldLadyKnowsNothing · 24/06/2009 18:47

I guess they're hoping that "popular" = "will use the phone a lot and pay us lots of lovely money".

Well I thought it was a stunt and not a very good one. It is obvioulsy one aimed at teenagers but still, would it be allowed if it was targeting another group of people. Why popular people? I know it is silly but I am really worked up about it! My charges friend went in and he tried to get one but was actually told that he needed more mates as he obvioulsy wasn't popular enough!!!!

They are wankers and people should buy their phones elsewhere.

This was their last effort:

I watched that advert just today, the ones with the balls and buckets? I thought it was a joke lol!!
That's crazzzzy. My phone book has more than 50 names in it, but i don't text or call all those numbers.
