This morning a local flooring firm have been and 'screeded' the kitchen floor, ready to put a vinyl on it tomorrow. I had cleared the kitchen of everything I could move, and they unplumbed/took out the fridge/washing machine/dishwasher. These are all squashed in the hall until tomorrow! As they guy was going, he announced that they're not meant to put the machines back or plumb them in. Sorry? Am i meant to manouevre 3 heavy machines by myself and plumb them in? (Haven't got a clue)
GRRRRRRR! Should I have expected this?

Yes, you should really.

When we had a new kitchen floor laid we were lucky we took up the old one as they wouldn't have done it.

Why should they plumb everything back in? It isn't what they are there for.

So are they coming tomorrow to lay the vinyl? Is your fridge defrosted? Can you then put it all back tomorrow night once they've laid the floor.

I'ne managed to plug in the fridge in the hall, so won't defrost. I understand that it's "not their job" to put the stuff back, but I wish I'd known it all needed to be moved out in the first place! The guy that measured up said it would go "just under" the fridge etc - so I didn't realise all the machined would have to come right out. Just a bit of a nightmare thinking how I'm going to put it back.

Do not drag these machines across the floor. I ruined my vinyl doing this because my fridge put a great big gash in the middle.

Ask them for a spare bit of vinyl a bit bigger tha your appliances. Use this under them when you are dragging them back into place

yabu, you should have expected this.

If you were having carpets laid would you expect them to move all your furniture out and then put it back for you? I'm sure a lot of them would have refused to move the appliances out in the first place!!

I'm sure if you ask them nicely and slip them a tenner then they will help you move them back.
