They are a nightmare. Their published prices are rarely anywhere near what the real price is. I think they, and some other budget arlines, got into trouble over this recently. I thought it wassupposed to be being stopped.

Naive I think - they charge for everything possible. An article I read recently compared ryanair/BA and the prices ended up being about £5 difference (BA more expensive) - however, you get allocated seats and free drinks with BA .

I know the feeling. £12.50 to Denmark for 5 turned into £500. Some people manage to get real cheapies though because they're always banging on about them. It's just us who can't find them!

They also charge you (not as much though) to checkin online. So how else are you supposed to do it? It's hardly an optional extra!

It is possible...if you get one of their special offers, check in online and carry only hand luggage (and no children, it's great when it costs more for a baby to sit on your lap than you paid for your seat!)

online check-in (though when i did it last year, check-in was free)

AND I got stung for the return one-way flight (to a different UK airport), which was charged in Euros - more expensive than the published £ flight on a normal round-trip.

Thye USED to be great and we did many cheap flights, even since dd. In the good old days though there were no charges for luggage, online check in etc and parents with small children were automatically let on the plane first. Same goes for EasyJet. These days i would not touch them with a barge pole!

I looked recently and their FREE flights worked out at hundreds of quid after you paid all the additional crap.

Hopefully more and more people will vote with their feet and they will realise that new business model is not good....

Can i just add Ryan air announce (last week)as of the 25/6 May if you do not have a copy of your email boarding pass they will charge you £40.00 for a copy. You also have to pay a £5 online booking in fee as they will no longer do it at the airport.

Legally if they penalise you for not doing something (online checkin) then they can't charge it as an extra, it has to be factored into actual fare.

Was in the paper at the weekend. Ryanair on v thin legal ice with many of their sharp charging practices.

i"m flying with ryan air on wed, booked it before they announced with the on line check in thing, i did airport check in as am travelling with infant,does that still apply? bit confused?
