AIBU?

to think that there is no reason at all for the Jeremy Vine show

to be running a complete non-story about a woman who wrote an article about a woman she met randomly who confided in her about her own daughter's abortion and the fact that she kept it a secret from her husband...

I mean, what is the point other than to get a whole load of pro-lifers calling up to tell everyone listening that terminations always lead to some kind of horrendous mental trauma for all involved.

AAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGHHHH

the fact you are watching this show confirms that you are unreasonable as a rule.

Beanie, I sympathise with you. I work at home, and generally have the radio on, so the JV show starts, and I find myself suddenly listening to such drivel.

This lunchtime spot used to be for current affairs info. But now they let the gewneral public ring in and air their unqualified views, it's gone seriously downhill. It's the reason I didn't listen to local radio.

I now tend to switch to R4 at lunchtimes

Not car crash culture - Radio 2, news and current affairs. Not a McKenzie top in sight!

No please, I love Jeremy Vine. I love how he saves the email comment he most agrees with and reads it out in a "they could have something, there," tone of voice as he fades up a the next track.

-intro starts-

"And finally, Mr Spleen on the M5 says, 'If they don't like it then why don't they just go back to their own country and stop imposing their views on the rest of us?' Hmm?"

-fade up-

"Ebony and Ivory, live to-ge-ther in perfect har-mon-y..."

I liked the debate the other day that farmers using sheepdogs is cruel and they should use men waving flags

The dinner was almost burnt I laughed so much

He's genius with the music fade-up. When he did the party leaders in the runup to the last general election, he interviewed Nick Griffin, and then faded up Bob Marley. I laughed my socks off...

Several Mumsnetters were on the Jeremy Vine show I remember (Clive Anderson was standing in) at the time when the whole "she who must not be named" saga broke out.

Twas an interesting day that day, Jeremy Vine, BBC lunch time news, ITV lunchtime news and Channel4 news.

Ooooh back in the day

Has anyone else noticed how he'll sometimes match a song with what hes been discussing? But in a very subtle way.

I can't think of any examples now but he may have just done an interview with for example, John Prescott and will fade up into Like A Puppet On A String!

Pure genius.

I'm amused by the way Jeremy Vine always makes it clear when he doesn't agree with a comment, because he reads it out in a flat, stagey tone with gaps between the words: "Andy from Belper says, 'These... women... have... got... it...easy. Maternity...leave...is ... just... one... long... holiday."

(Right, I'm off as of tonight, so if you want to insult me it's your last chance. Seriously.)

I love JV - often listen on the way to/from appointments and can freely yell at all the twunts - reduces my stress levels right down!
