I know, they let me buy 2 bottles of wine last week. It's the height of irresponsibility.

Can you imagine the uproar if supermarkets started to demand evidence of a dinner party invite at the checkout before they let you buy a big box of choccies.

Are you feeling a little queasy and headachey?

Well tesco sold dp some champage which dutifully drank which lead me to believe I was Dita Von Tees. I am now walking like John Wayne and fell out of bed following a rather risky boozse fuelled manoevre. I am definetly suing. Dp on the other hand has gone back for a crateful.

ROFL - getting carded in case you were buying for mere personal use. I like that idea, I'm going to steal a Sainsbury's uniform and frighten a stealth chocolate buyer

They keep letting me buy chickpeas, knowing all the while that I've bought chickpeas on the last four visits, and keeping forgetting.

We don't eat many chickpeas, either.

I agree, they're not responsible purveyors of produce. They need a little voice at the till, saying "Put the chickpeas back, and buy milk, which is what you actually came in for".

They should make more use of the data that loyalty cards give them. You could get a little printout along with the receipt which said something like: 'Threadworm, based on this month's purchases you have gained eight pounds, and either you are pregnant or you are being disloyal in your tampon purchase.'
