AIBU?

I'd like a warning if someone is going to send me a graphic picture in an official work email

OK...got the latest H&S bulletin for work.

Don't want to go into details but it was warning about the importance of using your PPE when doing hazardous task. The bulletin then went on to describe an accident that had happened to an employee who had forgotton to put on a key piece of PPE when carrying out some work, and the serious injury that occurred.
Underneath was a very graphic image of the injury! Now I appreciate the importance of drumming into people about wearing PPE, but I think the description of the accident was enough to warn about the danger without the picture which was a wee bit gruesome to the faint of heart including me, and also my number 2 (who is a bald, tatooed guy in his 50's who happens to be a total wuss )

Well am I?

I guess they were trying to make you face the reality of what could happen if you forget...

I guess so... I just think the description the accident was sufficient!!

Sorry YABU a "picture speaks a thousand words" (or something to that effect).

They're looking for more effective ways to get the message across ( and avoid v costly fines from HSE when things go wrong)

I'm not asking that they don't include the picture... but I think they should have been a warning that there was a graphic image in the bulletin.

Gold star to Edam - correct

Sorry I can't post the picture, I'm at home now and it was sent on a PDF to my work email. But basically someone was using a grinding machine and forgot to put his safety goggles on.
He ended up with a 3" piece of metal wire penetrating his eye It looked pretty icky - I have this thing about things sticking out of eyes

Surgeon removed it but he now has to wear glasses which he didn't have to before.

Bet you won't forget to wear your PPE now!
I think it's acceptable to include it.
