We seem to be going from one virus to the next! Since having broncalitis at 4 weeks old, my son has had cough after cold after sickness bug. His nose runs all the time and I am sick of being told "some babies are just like this."

Tonight he has a temperature and has vomited.

I'm taking a day?s leave tomorrow (I work part time) and I'm going back to the doctors for the 2nd time this month.......feel like they think I?m neurotic but what can I do?

Is this normal or should I be thinking there is more to this? I?m worried......

If it helps any we are kind of in the same boat.

My DS has always been bad with eczema, skin infections from the scratching, allergy tests, the cold etc and the runny nose thing is perfectly normal. I know its a PITA when someone says things like that but it's true.

Ah see thats where I thought I went wrong I formula fed LOL

Ach poor wee ones eh?

I'd take him to the doctors as planned

If you have any concerns write them down or something the doctors are there to help you when you need them. Don't worry am siure he'll be fine maybe just a child who picks up on so much as a snot

My DS's nose is like a tap, some vaseline under the nose and a tissue dabbed rather than wiped over the offending greeny meanies stops sore noses

Spent the first 2 years of my dd's life in and out of the doctors. She had bronchiloitis at 3 months and this really affected her until her tubes were wider. She was referred for asthma checks etc. as I was always at docs with her. And she coughed so much she was often sick. I can sympathise but it does get better. She is rarely ill now. Is your dc in nursery? My 3 all picked up everything going from there as babies but are now fairly robust.

P.s First dd formula fed
2nd breastfed - not a blind bit of difference in terms of what they caught.

Thanks cecilia. Having bronchiloitis at 4 weeks and being rather small may well have something to do with it. The coughing is the same as your dd's, being sick etc.

I don't think he has asthma but they have given him seriod inhalers with a big mask which he hates! I just think its all the snot!

He goes to nursery once a week and I guess its a 'buy one bug get one free' type system there!

Goldilocks we are in the same boat as you, my DS is coming up to two and has had one cold after another since April! GP tells me his fine and that he's building his immunity, but still gets you down doesn't it?

My DS started nursery in April so I guess that's what it is. I just want some sleep!!!

Wish your little one better.

Yes, dd had the big spacer thing with some inhalers. It was a miserable time in the winter months. Her nose was constantly tripping her. I used to long for her to be 100% well and she is now a strapping 8 year old. Nursery is a huge part of it but dc have rarely missed school. I think part of the anxiety is the helplessness you feel at a little one being unwell and the other is work, making arrangements for childcare etc. It's a nightmare and you have my sympathies. Hope it all sorts itself out.

Re. the sleep, can you prop him up a little? It's always worse at night when lying flat.

Thanks cecilia and SH27. We have the yellow pages under his cot.

I'm taking the day off tomorrow, feel guilty as I teach and don't want to let my class down and my husband is in the building industry so can't afford to miss work. ARH!!!

Oh we know exactly how you feel, and have spent so many nights trying to keep DS propped up in his cot.

Good luck tomorrow!
