I went to a school fete today, there were two men there that I felt could have been paedophiles. NOW, of course this thread could go in to a laborious discussion about How did I know? / How could I be so judgemental? How dare I? What a terrible world when people are so narrow minded! etc etc, but actually the only action I am taking is to say to a mums website

Please remember that school fetes are open to the public, parents feel very safe in the environment, Paedophiles go to school fetes on saturday afternoons, and PLEASE KEEP YOUR CHILDREN SAFE AND IN VIEW.

Oh for god's sake.

What does a paedophile look like anyway?

I have been to our school fete today, was it my husband? Ha ha. I know what you mean tho. We were at a Sugarbabes concert and there was a man next to me and my 11 year old niece in high heel patent shoes (tacky and cheap)!

Bit dramatic condemnation of two blokes supporting your kid's school by attending their fete. I'm sure they'd be hard pushed to abduct or abuse a child in front of all those parents.

Was it the masks that gave them away?

Or the "P" tattooed in the middle of their foreheads?

Perhaps, to be fair, cosima saw the men acting strangely. And she didn't feel the need to go through all that in her OP, just wanted to make the point about keeping children in view.

So....

Then why on earth didn't you report it to the school instead of on a mums website????

Please remember that there are people out there, people! People are the most dangerous forms of people known to people! KEEP YOUR PEOPLE SAFE AND STAY AWAY FROM ANY PEOPLE YOU SUSPECT OF BEING PEOPLE!

Thanks for that warning. Up till now I had been letting my DC go behind bushes with any strange man we came across at the school fete

cosima · 28/06/2008 19:51

really I could but I'm not going to, its enough that its read and it will be in the back of your mind. my sister was sexually abused, it has ruined her life.

Now of course its judgemental, of course I'm prejudging, it might just be something you don't think about at a school fete whereas in a public place you keep your children more in view.

'Paedophiles go to school fetes on Saturday afternoons'.

Thank god ds's school fete was on a Sunday.

I was at a school fete today too. Ds2 (2yo) was going on the bouncy castle and couldn't manage to climb on. I was standing behind bunting. The man running the bouncy castle asked me if it was ok for him to lift ds up to put him on. He the lifted him and held him away from his body as if ds was a bomb. It made me really sad.

Yes. There are sickos out there who get their thrills from bran tubs you know...

Report
Blu · 28/06/2008 19:51

Were they running a stall?

"Guess what I have under my mac? Three feels for 20p"

Sorry. I will probably be reported for tastelessness now (and me, a fully fledged 'PC type )....but really!

Oh FFS, so we're looking for men in cheap, tacky shiny high heels are we? Is that the definitive look for a paedo these days?

While we're on this hysterical paranoia, paedos could also be in the supermarket, at the swimming pool, in the park, walking past you in the street, at the library, pretty much anywhere in fact.

So rwally we all ought to keep our kids locked up at home so they're nice and safe.

Absolute sodding madness, this attitude.
