..to have complained to GMTV about Loraine Kelly's feature about women snapping back into shape after birth ?

Did anyone see this ?

Loraine interviewed 'z' list celebrity Lisa Scott Lee who modelled in a bikini 6 weeks after birth.

The feature had been trailed earlier on GMTV as being about the pressure some women feel under to snap back into shape 6 weeks after birth. Interesting I thought, having given birth 4 weeks ago (2nd child, so under no illusion about my body's recovery !)

The feature simply perpetuated the pressure to which it was referring and was void of any facts about real women and the length of time it takes for the body to recover.

They did mention that 'Dr Hilary' would be on tomorrow to dicuss this further, but even so - pretty iresponsible I thought.

I've probably wasted my time complaining but there you go ! (And before anyone points it out to me, I don't expect serious features on LK Today, but I don't expect such irresponsible boadcasting).

You mean its not true and real everyday women take more than 6 weeks - I was expecting DW to be back in the shape she was by the end of sept!! What will I do now!!

YANBU. Sounds like the usual tat you get on programmes like LK's and v irresponsible indeed.

Who's Lisa Scott Lee?

LSL was rather patronising IMO 'everyone is different, you know, different. And thats a good thing!' Erm, I doubt for those still sat in their maternity wear at six weeks post partum are feeling particularly glad they are 'different'. And yet they are more 'normal'. Also precious time has been lost with her newborn as she's been at it in the gym! her loss really.

I do NOT understand how anyone is in a bikini 6 weeks after giving birth

Surely she can't possibly have breastfed? She can't EAT anything surely?

6 weeks? she'll have only just stopped BLEEDING surely?

perhaps she had a maternity towel delicately balanced in her bikini bottoms?

anyway are we sure this is right?

According to BOUNTY:

12 Jun 2008

Celebrities are putting women under pressure to regain their pre-pregnancy figures straight after giving birth, it has been claimed.

Lisa Scott-Lee, who found fame with pop group Steps, told the Sun that all the interviews she has done since having her son Jaden in January have revolved around her weight loss.

"I think we're all slightly obsessed with weight and sizes and it really saddens me," she said. "I'd much rather talk about Jaden and motherhood but it's the other way around."

The 32-year-old explained that she tries do some exercise at home but that looking after her baby comes first.

She added that she put on two stone during her pregnancy which she does want to lose, but that enjoying her child is much more important.

didn't see the item so much as I would like to get the pitchfork out....

I certainly wouldn't have been bikini model material, but I did get back to pre-PG weight very quickly - I put on at most 1 stone when PG (partly as I was v depressed for much of my PG!)

I said in my message that I would send them a picture of my body but it probably put them off my breakfast

I had lost my baby weight by the time I came out of hospital (they didn't give me enough to eat. DH had to bring in sandwiches, and it still wasn't enough), BUT although the weight was gone I didn't look anything like I did pre pregnancy. (And haven't fully recovered yet 10 months on, since I can't exercise).

I'm also taken aback by Myleen Klass in a bikini for M&S money - surely she just had her child a minute ago?

so she says that to be pc then works out madly to slip into a bikini and then say she's lucky?
reckon she saw it as a way to reel in some celeb points to get from zz list back to z list.
did she not promise that if that reality tv single crashed and burned she'd never darken the halls of notoriety again?
shades of utter desperation imo

imo MK and LSL can't have spent much time enjoying their babies to get bodies like that 6 post delivery. Those bodies are not just "lost baby weight" bodies which even without the weight would be a bit flabby still, but they have obviously worked out religiously to get that toned again.

mp regardless of what that article says, the LSL sat on the sofa and told how she had eaten sensibly and exercised lots. They showed film of her on the shoot too and exercising. Either heavily made up belly or she got NO stretchmarks, lucky owman!

She also went on about how it is her job to look good. Most women don't force themselves back to work 6 weeks postnatal FGS.

WRT breastfeeding - there was the obligatory shot of a man bottlefeeding the baby. No idea if expressed milk. Can't rmemeber if they discussed breastfeeding.

And most of the other celebs they showed were in evening dress so could have had those lipopants/spanx/corsets on.

Well I'm 7 weeks post birth and am bf, jogging 5x a week, spinning and doing sit ups and press ups and i'm still in stretchy fabric clothes (I am eating loads mind). You must have to not eat anything during pregnancy and then even less afterwards to get back into a bikini that quickly

morningpaper · 16/06/2008 11:00

blimey sally take it easy - you can really injure yourself if you overdo it while your ligaments are still stretchy with all those pregnancy hormones

it's her first child. when she has a second dc I doubt she'll be clammering to show her sack of tatties tum to even her husband.

with my 1st I could've mogelled my stomach at 6 weeks, but certainly nowhere near that with my second or third.

Did they not ask LK what she looked like 6weeks post partum?

SueW · 16/06/2008 11:02

LSL also said when she fell preg she had just finsihed ??Dancing on Ice and was the fittest she had ever been in her life. So prob a good base to start from.

LSL is a talentless, self-obsessed bore imo, she is just desperate for any kind of exposure. Fairly typical that she'd use the birth of her first child to try and gain more TV work.
