To be concerned about how we live because.......

There are some amazing women (and men) on mumsnet, some really funny and moving posts, but it makes me really sad that perhaps lots of us are moving so fast that we can't see the wood for the trees. So this week, there are lots of posts about parking, (and by the way I agree people should not park in disabled spaces), but I am not sure what happened to respect for everyone. That sounds a bit "holier than thou" which it isn't meant to, but I wonder how much nicer life would be if we all tried to be a little bit more patient and have a little bit more time. I'll say again, I don't claim (at all) to live up to this - but would it be a better world for our children to inherit - or will they be even angrier than our generation (because it does seem angry). Would genuinely welcome all views!

And if we could all try to treat others with respect and empathise with their situations I don't think that would go amiss.

Good post, btw!

Nope - completely agree with you and in fact said as much on one of the parking threads!

My parents brought me (and my brother) up as Christians, and even though I no longer hold the faith - mine was always a little shaky at the best of times! - i firmly hold to the teachings of respect for others and doing as you would be done by. I hope ds will pick up on my beliefs and be chilled as i try to be am.

Not that i've been very chilled lately, but there you go!

It would be nice wouldn't it. I am really fed up at the moment because i really dislike society No one seems to care what they do or who it effects as long as they are happy.

I also hate this attitude nowadays where people seem to park where they like so it's convenient to them. They don't seem to care if their parking means agrow for other people.

Eg: People who park on yellow lines outside a takeaway to go and get their food. They think, i will only be here 5 minutes, but that to me is lazy and selfish. I always park in a side road and walk the two minutes around the corner! Does this anger anyone else?

Angers me v.much. In fact only two weeks ago I was approaching a set of lights which are adjacent to two takeaways that have zig-zags on the road due to it being at traffic lights. some arsehole parked right on the zig-zags so I couldn't pass him and the lights went red by the time I did get past him. I beeped him and he just shouted eff-off and gave me the v sign! I was seeing red all the way home!!!
