YANBU .. the trouble is people just don't think. Without any experience of family members or themselves who aren't the "norm", nasty or hurtful comments will come out.
Working with disabled people is a whole lot different than living with them.

ok a programme of euthanasia murder for seriously disabled children with zero quality of life and no familial support is considered by some to be an ethical dilemma I can see that. I've just read the 2nd half of the abortion thread. People calmly deciding who should or shouldn't have the right to live. It's a long time since I've read such ignorant drivel and I'm surprised to find it still on MN.

I think that it is more depressing that people can be so ill educated in such matters. To me it is as offensive as deeming "whites" more superior than any other skin colour or race. Grrrr
People are people end of story, hell we are all different from each other.
