AIBU?

to want to have the time to myself that I was promised???

Won't go into the whole rant as could be here all day but basically dh promised to take ds out for few hours today to give me time to do my tax return as I never really get time to myself (when I do it's dh taking him out because I've nagged I've got work to do). Anyway, dh went on about how he'd take ds out etc. but now he's not taking ds out because ds (nearly 5) was playing up and being a bit back-chatty this morning and won't apologise properly therefore it's all off. I do see his point about making ds apologise but I NEED this time and I feel like I'm being punished. Dh's answer to this is 'blame ds!'

If I'd promised to take ds out so dh could sand the plaster he's been going on about in the lounge, he'd go mad at me if I went back on it for this reason. I'd have taken ds somewhere but not a 'treat' if he'd been like this.

AIBU to feel like dh is just trying to get out of going out?

I think your dh is trying to worm his way out by blaming your ds. Cant he just go down town with him or something?

UPDATE.....

DS just very nicely said sorry to daddy and given him and necklace he made and DH said in a moody voice 'Why's it taken you four and half hours to say that'. I explained that he needs to praise him for finally saying it otherwise next time he won't bother! Dh just ignoring everyone now.

bunnyhunny - totally agree. We've got 'issues' atm, BIG ones and there's a big talk coming tonight so this has probably made things worse although it had been more of a reason for him to stick to what he'd promised GIT!

Well this is what I said, I feel like he's taking it out on ds because of what's going on with us right now. It's not fair on ds and tbh, is just helping me know my decision about us is right!

Oh LT, get on the big boots and kick him up the bum. I had to do my return today today and my DH did actually take the kids out. It's not like you asked for a spa day, it's your blinking tax return! Remind him he owes you £100 when it's late because he's been ridiculous. Getting into battles with a four year old.. men, ugh.

Didn't see the update - sigh, what do you do huh? I suppose as you say, it's certainly helping cement your decision isn't it? I am so sorry hon x

I know Crace As it happens, I've done it now but that's not the point and tbh, you've probably seen from the staffroom what's been going on so he really should have been on his best behaviour!! He's probably annoyed that the flowers last night didn't work!!! Well, I mean it this time, had enough!!!

Yes, it certainly is helping with my decision!

Poor DS.
Your DH is being a spoilt brat - imagine throwing an apology back in the face of a 4 year old.
Do you have any friend or relatives nearby that could take DS out for a couple of hours, to give you some concentration time?
Sorry you are going through this.

TP - I've just told ds I'll take him to the park so we can both get away from the moody git! Luckily I managed to get through the tax return a lot quicker than expected but it's still beside the point. I wanted time to myself for other things (but they can wait now) - I'm a childminder and spend my life around kids, which I love, but I just want to time on my own sometimes, is that too much to ask???

Of course not - everyone needs some time to themselves.
I hope you and DS have a lovely time at the park.
