dh goes ahead and arranges a business meeting in Istanbul next week over Xmas????

He casually wandered in while I was changing dd, and asked how I would feel if he headed off to Turkey next Monday for some meetings...

So I responded that if he values his life, he had better put his daughter and wife above a $%(*&% business colleague who can't meet with him this week because he's on the Hajj.

But he's still talking about meetings abroad next Thurs and Fri.

Maybe I should change my name to 'RoskvaAteNotSoDHUnderTheXmasTree

The business colleague has his religeous festival that he won't interupt, therefore he should not expect your DH to interupt his religeous/holiday festival.
I think I would have threatened him with castration not just changing the locks.

YANBU. I would be fuming. I'd change the locks for him even considering it.

explain carefully.
Christmas == turkey in DH
not DH in Turkey.

he seems to be a little confused.

I'd change the locks on my dh for that, but he'd just take the glass out of the windows again to get back in

Fair enough about the start of the week but Thurs and Fri are just any other working day.

Is it not until Thursday?

Can't he wait til the New Year? is it THAT urgent?

If it is not urgent, change those locks post-haste. If it is urgent then Thurs/Friday are normal business days so should be more acceptable, although it seems a lot of palava!

Thursday/Friday is not a problem unless he leaves me to pack, take the dog to the dog sitter and then drive 3 hours on my own with dd to the airport because we're all supposed to be going to stay with my folk for new year, on the basis that he may as well fly straight there or meet me at the airport. Grrr, men.

discoverlife - that's one of the things that really bugs me

lol Grimma - that cheered me up. If he sods off at the beginning of next week, his turkey will be in the dog [not very festive evil grin emoticon]

kneehigh - my dh isn't that handy, but he is mates with our local friendly glazier/locksmith
