To work full time for the same money as p/t

I'd love I bit of feedback on this though I know ultimately only I can make the decision.

I had always worked full time until I was made redundant 3 years ago, this coincided with the break up with DDs dad so instead of getting the normal dole while I was out of work I got one parent family payment, this allowed me to work part time and still receive a payment- so I'm coming out with a full time wage and don't have as many childcare issues. This ends next year when DD turns six and I will have to work full time.

I've found I have developed an attitude I never had before (why work full time right now when I don't have to) but I have no job satisfaction whatsoever, no progression and no pride in my job like I always previously had.

I've started applying for full time jobs this evening but there's a part of me wondering am I mad as I'll be no better off and will see less of DD, another part of me thinks it's the sensible thing to do, I turn 30 this year and I would like to be good example for DD career wise.

Sorry it's so long and boring but I'd love some encouragement that it's the right thing to do!

If your payments are going to stop surely its the only thing to do? Am Ik missing something?

They don't stop for another year and a half and there is a transitional payment that you can get for a could of years afaik

Ok. Well, in your position I think I would be trying to study or retrain in something that I'd enjoy more while working part time for the moment, so that your prospects are better when you really need to work full time.

I think you are being very smart. When your DD turns 6 next year you will need to be in FT employment. A year isn't far off and it is far better to look for a job before you must be in that FT role.

Also, its short term thinking to be comparing your income now to PT because in another 12 months you won't have that choice available to you anyway. If you work FT opportunities will open up for you that won't be there if you work PT. Those opportunities will eventually enable you to earn more and/or have more job security.

Go for it.
