To share this weird footage of Trump's bodyguard and his fake hands?

Apparently, he has those fake hands because under his coat, his real hands are carrying a big automatic rifle.

They conceal such large weapons in this way because the public would be worried that there was and especial danger....and that they were at risk.

I wonder if this is normal or just because it's Trump? And why have an automatic rifle instead of a normal hand gun?

Ooh that's really creepy looking. His bald head does not help matters! He looks like one of those synthetic people from that tv show!

BillSykesDog · 23/01/2017 09:39

Have you ever seen those diagrams of how the presidential motorcade is armed? This will be for all presidents, not just Trump. They are incredibly heavily armed.

wasonthelist · 23/01/2017 09:39

I would imagine it's "normal" i.e. not just Trump.

And why have an automatic rifle instead of a normal hand gun?

Have you been to the USA?

Seriously though, anyone attacking a President wouldn't be doing it with a handgun. There's nothing to see here - this is modern day USA. Sad but not especially odd.

RosalieDene · 23/01/2017 09:40

He reminds me of father Ted trying to throw the football match with a remote controller.

Manumission · 23/01/2017 09:42

It only looks like one artificial hand. I suppose it's too obvious to think maybe the guy has a prosthetic hand because he just HAS a prosthetic hand?

Penfold007 · 23/01/2017 09:44

The female bodyguard on his left also has very odd hands

Suzytwoshoes · 23/01/2017 09:46

Wow! Shock I've never noticed that before.
What would happen if he needed to shoot? Would it just shoot that hand off? He wouldn't have to pull if off like a glove?

Manumission · 23/01/2017 09:46

I had a nasty flash that maybe she was holding two nuclear triggers pen Grin

heppi · 23/01/2017 09:48

That is weird. Surely he wouldn't be able to react very quickly under all of that? Or do you think his coat is all stripper-style/quick-change velcro'd together?

He is certainly walking like someone carrying something very heavy close to his chest.

OneWithTheForce · 23/01/2017 09:49

The female bodyguard on his left also has very odd hands

I thought that too.

LizzieMacQueen · 23/01/2017 09:50

The female bodyguard on his left also has very odd hands

Yes I spotted that too.

LonelyImSoLonely · 23/01/2017 09:50

I noticed his hands held in front of him during the parade! Thought it was one of those nervous twisting of a wedding ring when concentrating things as one hand was moving, I think.
But makes sense to have quick response with an automatic weapon if that's what you're facing.

Makes our PMs look like they're being guarded by 7yr olds playing dress up.

I don't think someone with a prosthetic hand would be allowed to guard the president, they wouldn't be able to shoot a gun with an immobile plastic hand.

I reckon it's his real hand and he has freaky fingers.

MoonfaceAndSilky · 23/01/2017 09:52

That's so funny because while we were watching my dd asked what he was doing with his hands, they were just stuck on his lapel and not moving. I said it's so he can get to his gun quickly inside his jacket. I didn't, for one minute, think they were fake Shock

CommonFramework · 23/01/2017 09:54

God, I didn't notice that! How v odd. The woman bodyguard seemed to be making hand signals at one point - did you see that? She was definitely moving her left hand. Not her right.

LonelyImSoLonely · 23/01/2017 09:55

Not that I don't think that the police that guard our PM aren't experts and great at their job, it's just a whole different league in America.

Wonder if they'll ever put together the huge security presence thy need, both in office and for life, with the fact that they can all buy guns like sweets

Manumission · 23/01/2017 09:56

Well yes and once you spot he's not the only one...

I wonder what DOES happen to any secret service men who get severely injured.

LonelyImSoLonely · 23/01/2017 09:57

I have to see the diagram now if anyone has a link, the one about the protection. I'm interested.

especially here as the public can get so close and run into our PM and their families don't have armed guards. America just seems so big for everything.

I reckon Melania was wearing bullet proof protection from the chin down, hence her weirdly trussed up outfit.

CommonFramework · 23/01/2017 10:00

I wondered that too, Cao! She looked bulky (for her).

ChallyCreaks · 23/01/2017 10:06

I have watched that footage a couple of times now. Both the male and female bodyguard move their left arms slightly but then move them back to their original position quickly. The right side is a prosthetic hand as they do not move and presumably they are holding a gun under their coats. I can't work out how they would get the gun out quickly though.

diddl · 23/01/2017 10:07

So if they are fake arms & his real ones are under his coat, how does he move at least one at one point?
