To think this is the most disgusting thing ever?

My very hairy dog sat on a previously stood on dead slug.

It was stuck in her leg fur and I had to remove it. I feel slightly sick now.

I think it was more disgusting than when she managed to get her own poo stuck in her armpit.

If it makes you feel better I stood on a cold dead worm (barefoot) that my lovely cat dragged in Confused

There was nothing more disgusting than when the dogs anal gland was emptied. I was 9 and chundered on the vets foot.

I, barefooted, stepped on a big orb spider once in the dark in the bathroom. It popped under my foot! I froze and called out for DH. I can still recall the sound and feel of the pop 5 years on.

I have thankfully never had to wash rotting fox off a dog before and hopefully I never will!

I think slug in fur was more gross than standing on cold mouse/shew guts the old cat used to leave around.

Flowers for everyone who has any grossness in their lives!

Ha! I dunno rotting fox is up there. My dogs do love a bit of an excrement roll but fortunately not remains... yet!

I have one shorthaired cat and one fluffy cat, and the fluffy one has brought in small slugs embedded in his tail floof on more than one occasion. Only realise when I go to stroke him and feel the gross cold slimy thing stuck to the fur... Envy (vom)

I hope you are regularly using a product on your dog that covers Lung worm infestation, it is really nasty, causes dogs to bleed to death, it can also infect humans. I hate slugs, always wear gloves for removing them.

My youngest was chewing something when she was about 7months old. I thought she was just chewing her tongue as she was teething. DH went over, and it was a slug. Boak Envy

My mums wee dog once brought a dead frog into her kitchen, dropped in and it exploded showering the floor in maggots...

Our springer used to get slugs stuck in her knickers where she'd sat on them. Grim grim grim. I have two grossest ever moments, though - removing the carcass of a rotting, semi-skeletal, green rat from said srpinger's clenched jaws in pieces after she picked it up in a park, saw our reactions and decided to guard it, and the time my childhood springer (recognise a theme here?) found, ate and liberally coated himself in a horse's decomposing afterbirth that had been out in the hot july sun for about four days, and then tried to drag what was left of it home for later. It took us days to get the smell off him.

When I was pregnant and gagging all day with morning sickness, I had to clean up a pile of cat vomit teeming with live worms.

I never worried again about possible MS puking on the bus after I kept my stomach dealing with that!

One time I was lying on the floor underneath my friend's dog's head and talking babyish at him. This was the dog's most favourite game. Suddenly the dog threw up on my face and threw up the half-digested unidentified mammal he'd been eating earlier that day when we'd taken him over the fields.

Ive had to remove 3 dead mice from under my sofas. My cat brings them in but then doesn't know what to do with them. Ive caught her with two but missed the other three. One was there for some time and stuck to the floor. D Cousins H cleaned the floor (hero) but I had to remove one whilst pregnant as the man who came to fix the sofa (revealing the gift) stood there looking at me lost (to be fair it was my house and therefore my problem)

Meet Eric.

In this photo, he's modelling a heady mix of rotting rabbit corpse, cow pat, unidentifiable green sludge and canal.

On this particular day the stars had aligned to mean that Eric only had to roll twice to get all these notes perfectly embedded into his coat.

It took 4 baths, a hose down outside and several days for the stink to finally leave him.

I'd love to say to was a one off but alas, Eric is a basset hound.

For some reason our house was infested with slugs last year. The worst was the ones that sat on the cats water fountains as they got so bloated and gross.

We get geckos and the cats chase them and they drop their tails. Picking up the still-wriggling tails off the kitchen floor is the worst.

dingit · 18/01/2017 13:37

Yuk. My fluffy tailed cat used to have a whole ecosystem nested in his tail. Slugs, snails, beetles, dead leaves...
