Evening all!
Help me make a decision if you will....
Single mum with very little support (none actually) ....
House is a tip! Can't find anything, have paperwork to sort out, really tired, loads of washing to do, the list is endless and I spent all day today on the verge of tears because I'm a bit stressed... (A lot stressed...)
I reckon I can get on top of everything in a day while kids at nursery/school.
Non eventful admin day tomorrow. No impact on colleagues....
AIBU to do a sickie? Haven't done one all year.... Oh yeah, eyebrows looking hideous! Confused

I give myself one skive a year so I'd say go for it

Bobsyouraunt53 · 06/12/2016 19:32

Absolutely do it.

orangeterry · 06/12/2016 19:32

do it , your eyebrows will thank you

Madbengalmum · 06/12/2016 19:33

Go for it!

ScarlettO89 · 06/12/2016 19:34

I think a 'mental health day' now and again is a very good thing

minionsrule · 06/12/2016 19:34

What? Mumsnet is condoning throwing a sickie - now there is something I never thought I would see?
I'll give it 5 minutes till you get flamed by the hundreds Grin

Sirzy · 06/12/2016 19:34

Do it!

TheLegendOfBeans · 06/12/2016 19:35

DO IT
DO IT
DO IT

Wishfulmakeupping · 06/12/2016 19:35

Do it

AyeAmarok · 06/12/2016 19:36

No, don't do it. Take a day's annual leave, that's what it's there for.

RainyDayBear · 06/12/2016 19:36

Do it!

biscuitkumquat · 06/12/2016 19:36

Do it

AwfulSomething · 06/12/2016 19:36

Do it!

Lupinlady5 · 06/12/2016 19:37

It'll be really obvious this close to Christmas. Just sayin'

IpDipCatnip · 06/12/2016 19:38

I haven't gone sick in years! ( no smugness intended) and I have felt terrible at times and I work in conditions that make illness feel worse- cold and wet with no breaks (yes illegal I know....).

My employers have just been tendered out to a new one. We are going to lose all our current sick pay and holiday pay rights.

So YABVVVU I'm afraid and this is not meant to sound mean but you need to get a better routine- maybe you need to sort during your next A/L period?

SharpLily · 06/12/2016 19:39

I used to think pulling a sickie was an awful, terrible thing to do, until I realised how useless I was at work feeling as bad as you do. If it really won't impact adversely on your colleagues or your employer then do it, and make sure you have a really productive day on Thursday to make up for it!

IpDipCatnip · 06/12/2016 19:39

Oh that will be me then minion 😜

FourToTheFloor · 06/12/2016 19:40

Omg. So one thread where someone was actually sick and asked her dh to take a sickie and one arsehole called her workshy and this one where majority have said do it.

Mn is fucking weird Hmm

ineedamoreadultieradult · 06/12/2016 19:40

YABU and it's people that do this that mean when people are off sick for genuine reasons they are given the third degree!

GreenPetal94 · 06/12/2016 19:41

The key thing about pulling a sickie is you should tell noone. So now its blasted all over mumsnet perhaps you'd better not.

StealthPolarBear · 06/12/2016 19:41

Take a days annual leave or start early and finish early

80sMum · 06/12/2016 19:42

No, don't call in sick if you are not actually sick! That's fraud isn't it? Just take a day off in the normal way, i.e. book a day's leave!

Can I say I told you so? Well nearly, some are being quite encouraging actually Wink

PotteringAlong · 06/12/2016 19:44

I'll flame you.

You're not sick. If you get caught it's a disciplinary event.

Get off mumsnet, sort your eyebrows out, tidy up and get to work tomorrow

inmyotherlife · 06/12/2016 19:45

Will someone have to cover/ stay late for you? If so you might feel too guilty to enjoy your day.
