I was concerned that the dog wouldnt like the hair dryer and actually wondered if he was getting a trim as well.
he had obviously had a cut himself, somehwere.
but when i went to sit wherever i sat, with the hairdressers apron gown on me i was a bit concerned that this was the gown the dog had been sitting on

Wouldn't bother me in the slightest, but I have two dogs myself (although I can't quite see myself at the hairdressers with a huge lurcher perched on my knee!).

I prefer dogs in hairdressers to children. Mine are complete asshats every time I take them for a trim.

Do hairdressers put a clean gown on each customer? I think if you start worrying about what might have touched an item before you use it you wouldn't be able to do anything. What if someone hadn't washed their hands and placed them on the gown. A small child might have sat on it, children carry germs that are far more of a risk to people than dogs!

I used to go to a hairdresser who had her dog in the salon.

Actually maybe a hair salon that did human and dogs haircuts would be a popular business idea...

Customer before you who wore that gown could have nits or not washed their pits in three weeks. I'm not sure why a dog sitting on the gown makes any difference unless you are allergic.

aside from the gown issue i was just surprised that she thought she could take her dog to the hairdressers!

I wouldn't take ours everywhere no as they are big and bouncy/woofy at times! Wouldn't bother me if someone had their dog at the hairdressers so long as they weren't causing trouble or bothered by the noises. I wouldn't mind if they touched the gown but also expect the salon may have popped it in the wash after anyway. Other people touch them and they go over your clothes so am fine with it.

When I lived in France , dogs were everywhere, restaurants , salons and even at the doctors .
I think it's fab . I bloody love dogs .

My lovely MIL took my massive lurcher to the hairdresser when she was looking after him and didn't want to leave him. He was very good and got spoilt rotten

I have taken mine to the hairdressers, she sat on my lap. My hairdresser took her out for a walk whilst my foils were on and introduced her to all the shopkeepers on the little high street.

My hairdresser is very animal orientated though.

I took my wolfhound to the hairdressers once. He didn't sit on my knee though.

We live in a village and had been for a walk in the woods. On way back to house we walked past hairdressers. It's a pop in one, it was quiet and ds needed a haircut so we went in. Dog and all.

There are 2 dogs at the salon I go to. One of them is owned by the stylist who does my hair and her dog always sits on my lap and falls asleep. I love it! (I would like a dog but can't at the moment so I enjoy getting my doggy fix )

I'd assume that as she had the dog in the hairdressers and the hairdresser was cutting her hair while the dog was there she could in actual fact take her dog with her. I'm sure if it wasn't allowed she would have been told no.

I've seen lots of dogs at the hairdressers, I think it's pretty common? The hairdresser I go too has a salon dog and whenever I book an appointment they ask if I can bring mine in with me.

Mouse is allowed in all the shops here, including the hairdressers (he loves the hairdryer). The butchers is his favourite though, they always give him a cube of beef.

He wasn't allowed in the old bakers, but they went bust (miserable people, not surprised), but the new bakers is lovely, and he is allowed in there.

There's a new deli opening soon, he's looking forward to that.

The dog could well have been a companion or working dog. Therefore legally allowed in the salon.
Wouldn't bother me unless I was allergic to dog hair and the same gown was about to be put in me.
There's probably far worse things been on the gown. Anyone who had worked with the public will have experienced a variety of 'customers' far worse than a bit of dog hair ! Lol

I would not take mine because they are, as Mr Elbows told them this evening, a "pair of wee bum wiggling bastards"! They're into everything and would just shout at hairdryers and then try to eat each other. They're better left at home. I'd go to a hairdresser with a resident dog though.
