Page boys' parents won't let them wear their outfits (that I picked)... AIBU to think it's ridiculous?

I have 2 best friends, who are like my sisters, and I'm really close to their little boys. I wanted them to be page boys - my friends were really happy about this. Now they don't want them to be, due to the outfits... They 'came to a joint agreement' whatever that means...

I'm really hurt - I also think it's a bit ridiculous!

LIZS Mon 21-Nov-16 11:06:57

What are you expecting them to wear and who is paying?

clumsyduck Mon 21-Nov-16 11:07:04

Depends on the outfit .....!

GabsViolet Mon 21-Nov-16 11:09:19

It's just a 'normal' outfit. I have paid...

iknowimcoming Mon 21-Nov-16 11:10:43

Can we see a photo of the outfits, hard to tell if yabu without seeing them?

Seeline Mon 21-Nov-16 11:11:35

How old are the boys?
What is the outfit?

user1477282676 Mon 21-Nov-16 11:12:01

Is it a horrid little waistcoat and grey trousers?

BaldBaby1970 Mon 21-Nov-16 11:12:12

What reasons did they give for not wanting their children to wear the outfits?

MuseumOfCurry Mon 21-Nov-16 11:12:20

We need to see the outfits.

Also, how old are the boys? They might be have their own views on the matter.

MauiWest Mon 21-Nov-16 11:13:31

I really want to see the outfits now...

clumsyduck Mon 21-Nov-16 11:13:44

Could there be another reason ?

It's kind of a given (well in my experience of being a bridesmaid a few times so not exactly the same ) that you may have to wear something not totally to your taste because it's not your day!

GetOutMyCar Mon 21-Nov-16 11:14:13

Your friends don't sound particularly nice.

GabsViolet Mon 21-Nov-16 11:14:55

They're 3 and 4, so I can't imagine it being them - if it was, they'd make a joke about it.

user1477282676 - why would that be horrid?

It's this suit: here

If the outfit involves Peter Pan collars, sailor suits or knickerbockers YABU.

FizzBombBathTime Mon 21-Nov-16 11:16:07

Did they give you a reason why?

Sparlklesilverglitter Mon 21-Nov-16 11:16:13

I don't see your friends problem. Seriously what is there beef??? confused

You have paid for the outfits and it's normally to want page boy/bridesmaid colours to Blend in with the rest of the wedding party.

PhilODox Mon 21-Nov-16 11:16:51

Did they say what they don't like?
Personally I like Tulip and Nettle style sailor outfits for 3 and 4 yos.

Sparlklesilverglitter Mon 21-Nov-16 11:16:51

They look lovely for a wedding.

Your friends are strange

FizzBombBathTime Mon 21-Nov-16 11:16:55

(Outfits look pretty normal btw, not sure what the parents were expecting tbh confused)

Geretrude Mon 21-Nov-16 11:17:24

Is it because the waistcoats are pink? Are they worried their boys will catch the gay?

Your friends sound horrible and monumentally stupid

GashleyCrumbTiny Mon 21-Nov-16 11:17:30

What is it about the outfits? They (or possibly you in your summary) haven't really given enough information to know what to think. I'd gently ask for more details to "see if you can work out a compromise". And use their answer to judge whether you want to...

GrinchyMcGrincherson Mon 21-Nov-16 11:17:57

Surely that's just a normal pageboy outfit. I don't see the issue? Is it because the waistcoat is pink? Are they too special to wear the same colour as everyone else because "it's a girls colour"??

DearMrDilkington Mon 21-Nov-16 11:18:41

How old are the boys? I'm struggling to see what's wrong with the outfit.

MuseumOfCurry Mon 21-Nov-16 11:18:43

Personally I like Tulip and Nettle style sailor outfits for 3 and 4 yos.

Me too.

GrinchyMcGrincherson Mon 21-Nov-16 11:18:47
