To think this is a bit cheeky of my boss?

I started a new job a few weeks ago.

There was some online training stuff I was meant to do in my first few days but I couldn't do it at the time as the computer system was down. I was told I would do it when the system was back up and running.

Computers get fixed but I still don't do the training.

Spoke to my boss today and he tells me to download the company's app thing to my tablet/phone/etc and that I am to do all of my training on there, so either at home or on my breaks at work.

Aibu to think this is a bit cheeky? They are expecting me to do all my training in my own time, unpaid. I'm still going to do it because, well, I have to, but Aibu to think that this isn't usually how companies operate with regards to training? Or is it? Never had to do this before!

(FYI this is a minimum wage christmas temp job)

Do it in work time not your own. take longer on your break and if they ask what you doing tell them you doing the training stuff.

If you've already been working there for a few weeks, without training, what do you need to learn when Christmas is just over 5 weeks away? Bugger that. If training is meant to be done there, refuse to do it in your own time. They probably won't push it because it's a temporary Christmas job.

I'm kind of hoping that they will keep me on after christmas though as I'll still need a job after christmas! I'll probably just suck it up and do it to keep them happy, was just unsure if they were BU to expect me to do training in my own time.

I'm grateful to have a job at all but I just have so much to do now, working, 3 uni assignments, and now all this extra training. Arrg!

I've had lots of jobs (bar work and retail) where I'm expected to fill out online training in my own time. It's just one of those things.

I think I wouldn't have minded if it was clear from the start that I was expected to do the training in my own time but I just find it a bit annoying that, but for the system being faulty in the first few days, I would have done it in work time, been paid for doing it, and I would have had all the training completed by now! As it is I haven't even started it yet as I only got on to the system yesterday, and I've been told he wants all the new staff to complete it by the end of the week

This sounds like the company I work for. High street Health and Beauty shop?

If it is, the initial induction training takes a few hours, I wouldn't do that in my own time. However, I have completed the refresher training or new modules added in my own time because they literally take a few minutes and I don't mind.
