So the not on the high street ad was on. Saw the where the stars were when you met frame being advertised. Thought it was a cool thing my dh would love. Looked it up. It's £84! Am I just a cheapskate or is that way over priced?

Really liked the idea too. Wonder if you can get it cheaper anywhere else? Though how would you check it was correct?

All their stuff is but it's good for ideas, could you make your own?

Overpriced. Plus I just don't think men are interested in sentimental gifts like that... Save your money!

Because men have no sentimental feelings? Hmm

Not sure if the still do it but there was one on same theme, maps, landmarks, etc you could include a restaurant/ bar, park, points of interest etc

You could check the main ones using a birth chart (for zodiac) look up free birth chart astrology you will get quite a few sites where you put in the date, time and location and you'll get a map of the zodiac stars as they were at that time.

Notonthehighstreet such a good site but yes some things very expensive. I'd imagine because it would be handmade rather than mass produced and would probably take quite a while to complete. From my own experience, I sew things and what takes me 3/4 hours probably takes 5 minutes for large suppliers to produce. xxx

Dh would love the star chart as he's really into space and stars, NASA etc.
He's very sentimental too.

That's a great site, I just can't make one though.

Why aren't men interested in sentimental gifts? Really? Confused

Maybe a bit over priced for what it is but if your DH would really appreciate that as a gift and you can afford then it's all relative

I do find not on the high street.com can be over priced a lot of the time

www.psychicscience.org/astrochart.aspx

Link to a pretty simple birth chart site - super easy just put in details of when you met and you'all get the star chart mapped out on the zodiac

If it was £25-30 I would have bought it. Why is it £84?

It is a great idea for a gift OP.
Maybe instead of wood you could print out a version of the star chart and put it in a nice frame or something? Get the frame personalised for much less than £85 and print out on some nice photo paper or something?

Can't afford £84. I might see if the kids will help me make one. It might just work.

My problem is my capabilities. But if I can get the kids to help. Don't want him knowing.

greaterskies.com

If the link works, it may be worth a look- the price is in dollars but for 34$ you can get sent a printable file of the star constellation of time/place you met- I think it's a cool idea too but wouldn't pay NOTHS price for it. This looks to be the same thing although obviously you have to print and frame it yourself.

It's the printing and framing that's the hard bit for me. Hard to do.

£84 does seem a crazy price, I've always thought NOTHS were ridiculously expensive I use them for ideas then get what I want somewhere else

That is why they charge - lots of people have given you other options, which take your time and/or skill. You have a choice:

Pay the money
Use your time and skill

Only you know which is best for you.

Find a local framers, if you have a picture they will frame it for you for a lot less than £84 I would think.

I am thankful to you for positing this as I'm stealing this idea :) as my DP is a romantic soul and think he would love this for his office, think it's a lovely idea for a gift for a man romantic without being tacky (IMO) like a bear with a heart :)

Overpriced - but then again I almost had a heart attack the other day when I had to pay 56p for a Freddo.

Report
Mummyme1987 · 11/11/2016 00:28

problem is I don't have £84 or the ability to do it all by myself. I would love to be able to but can't. Hence I said I'm going to try to get the kids to help.
