I think it's a worry - you've got elections in the Netherlands and Germany coming up too.

I hope you aren't equating voting to leave the EU with voting for the NF?

However that aside yes I think it's possible and I think it's scary how the world is going.

Extremists on the rise everywhere hiding behind religions and ideologies.

No I am not linking brexit and the NF I voted leave and I am black

Howver for an age people keep saying she will never will and dismissing her just like TRUMP and brexit and an impossible because the higher think it won't happen and can't fathom people have different views

I think they ingnore the White working class at their peril
and if France don't want to wake up to president LApenn then they need to start acting

The French ambassador to the US was in bits this morning just wait if the NF get in they will make trump look decent and that's a hard job

She scares me more than Trump, I think he is mostly unpleasant bluff & bluster - she has been brought up to hate

And her style is much more considered of TRUMP can talk of pussy grabbing and still win then I I dread to think and the French are not really known for being very tolerant on radical issues

It's a scary bloody prospect. For too long the left wing liberal elite have patronised their own core voters & first with Brexit & now with Trump it's causing a domino effect.
There could also be an Italian eu exit. These are bizarre times

Successive governments have killed education and closed libraries and tried to stifle as much intergenerational mobility as possible. Make the poor poorer and keep people ignorant. Give them no time to think or do anything except work and grind along.

And then we all wonder why people vote to shit where they eat.

I think that many of us who consider ourselves to be educated and liberal and forgiving are incredibly lucky to be in the position we find ourselves in the world. We have successfully navigated the post-industrial climate, we have jobs, we are not affected immigration and indeed see it as a good thing, we are confident enough to stand up and are actually listened to when we do because we are talking to people like us. We are not racist, we are not misogynistic, although we may despair of religion we do not hate those who practice different faiths.

There are vast swathes of people who post-industrialisation has left behind and education has failed. They have low paid jobs, they see there way of life disappearing, they cling to the traditions that they are losing (whether religious, racist, misogynistic etc...) and we, the ones who have navigated the capitalist, post-industrial world, they hate.

I read a great article on the notion that these elections are not so much right vs. left, but the urban/rural divide. www.cracked.com/blog/6-reasons-trumps-rise-that-no-one-talks-about/

I can only see this playing out similarly in Europe. I hope to god it doesn't because as worrying as Trump being president is, the far right in Europe is a lot nastier and a lot closer geographically.

While the economics of Trump as president will be interesting and I think the climate will suffer as a result, I am not too worried about the prospect of war. If the far right in Europe get in, I would be much more worried about the effects that they could create.
