Last week a bunch off guys with diggers, barricades and an old warburtons lorry rocked up and started digging holes in our quiet road. There was no notice, no idea clue as to what they were doing, they cause a racket from 7am which does cause issues trying to work from home. Nevertheless after one neighbour managed to discover they are replacing the lead pipes with plastic i know the job needs doing so am happy to just suck it up. BUT it's fucking 7.30 and DD has been trying to sleep for an hour now and they are still going with their bloody diggers and noisy machinery. Don't they have homes to go to?!

(Can't mive DD to the back of the house, we are on one level and it's all open plan living at the back)

Waaa i just want to eat my chocolate 😤

0730 is a tad early...although you have to commend their work ethic!

I would imagine it's an emergency, which they can't leave until they've fixed - or secured - it. Why don't you go and ask them? Maybe offer them a cup of tea/coffee and some biscuits.

No works can begin from 7 am. The council wait til the dot of 7 before they start with their noisy kerbside recycling, verge mowing or whatever. We must be first on their route

They have been working normal hours last week. They actually stopped early on Haloween which was good as then the kids on the street could go trick or treating (although a tad scary with us having to go in the road not having the footpath!), but this week it has been carrying on til after 7pm.
I would have gone and asked - the guys themselves are quite nice - but i'm on my own with DD tonight and i didn't want to leave her.

Fully prepared to accept im being unreasonable but given the length of time they have been doing the work, that they turned up with portaloos and the fact that the 'after dark' work seems to just involve them moving the diggers and rubble carriers down the street to be put away i hadn't thought of it as likely. And if it isn't an emergency i feel bad for them out in the cold after dark!

Thankfully they finished at 8pm and DD is now asleep. 7am starts aren't all bad, silver lining it gets us going in the morning! Grin
