AIBU?

To have misjudged my mobility scooter battery and got stuck?

Not really am aibu but I'm stuck and fed up. i went out for a little scoot in the sunshine to a town centre a couple of miles from home, with a nearly fully charged scooter battery that supposedly does 10 miles (charged before a circuit of a small supermarket last night). Now sitting by the road 1.3 miles from home with a dead battery waiting my boyfriend to finish work, cycle home, get the car and come and rescue me. I think the cold has a big effect on the battery as it seemed fine.

So, I'm cold and fed up and really need the loo Blush. can't use a bus, haven't the cash for a taxi so I'm sitting distracting myself with MN while i wait...

How frustrating.

How can we keep you amused?
Bad jokes?
What do you call a boomerang that won't come back?

A bloody useless stick!

Silly pictures

Thanks!
I love that picture, my BF is just like that (but I won't show him it, at least not tonight...).

I feel like such a twit!

Oh that's crap! How long will your bf be?

I'd do some people watching to pass the time too, I love doing that!

I don't suppose turning into a wolf is an option?

(fellow TP fan)

How long is he likely to be?

I'm hoping he'll be here by 5 at the latest.

Yep, I have a back up phone charger (to fuel my pokemon go addiction) so am sorted for that at least. not a great spot for people watching unfortunately (and I didn't even break down by a pokestop!). MN it is...

You can always have a search in Classics for some of the really funny old threads as long as you don't mind laughing out loud in a public place.

Turning into a wolf would be very welcome! (I'm a TP fan who can't spell sergeant - I listen to the audio books, that's my excuse anyway!) I have on a 3/4 sleeve tunic, fleecy leggings, 2 pairs of socks, light fleece jacket, neck warmer, thin padded jacket, 2 hats, wrist warmers, thin gloves, a fleecy wrap skirt (I made it for cold leg days on the scooter) and thermal wellies. I should be toasty but it's easy to get cold when you're sitting still.

Hopefully he will be there soon and you can get into the warm.

He's just got in the car to come and get me so shouldn't be long now. Thanks for keeping me company!

I have found that scooter batteries age. So as they get older the distance they will propel you gets shorter.
Also as the scooter gets older the bearings on the wheels get dryer, not as free running, so the motor takes more to propel you.
Even with a new battery I would recommend keeping it on charge when not in use.
New batteries are easier sourced from Ebay and are not difficult to fit.
Hope your young man turns up soon.

Thanks. Home and wrapped up in a blanket with tea and cake.

Charging is a problem because I can't lift the battery so can't sort it myself. I'll look into ebay replacements though, thanks.

My mum pays for a recovery service, would that be an option for you? They'll pick up you and your scooter and take you both home.

Ooh, that's worth looking into, thanks! Where in the country is your mum, if you don't mind saying? I jokingly thought one would be good but didn't realise they actually existed!
