To Be Upset That My Alledged Best Friend Has Invited My Ex-H Over For Sups?

Looking for some perspective here as I really don't know if I'm being unreasonable or not.

I haven't been invited by my best friend for supper (or anything else for that matter) since January. My ex-h has been invited twice that I know of, and the other couple we all see have been regular visitors. My best friend, with and without her husband, has been for sups with me countless times. Every time she comes over she tells me that she must invite me round for sups. Am I being over-sensitive to feel really upset that my ex-h gets and invite when I don't?

You aren't unreasonable to be upset, although it is difficult when you're friends with both members of a couple that splits up. Have you just got into a pattern where she comes to you instead of you going to her?

You are unreasonable for using the words "sups".

Iamcheeseman Tue 01-Nov-16 22:04:10

Ask her about it.
And please don't write 'sups' ever again!

Queenbean Tue 01-Nov-16 22:05:31

Do you think you don't get invited because you say "sups"?

ArmySal Tue 01-Nov-16 22:06:23

I never get invited for sups sad

KenDoddsDadsDog Tue 01-Nov-16 22:07:27

Sups in my house is a bowl of shreddies. Make your own .

ParadiseCity Tue 01-Nov-16 22:07:40

Give her a call and ask wassup?

YANBU though.

Oldraver Tue 01-Nov-16 22:08:05

SUPS ? WTF

Fruitboxjury Tue 01-Nov-16 22:09:12

Do you also go on holibobs together? Sorry you're finding it difficult but all I can think about is what an awful word sups is. Perhaps you can suggest breks instead if sups isn't working.

DamePastel Tue 01-Nov-16 22:10:01

no you are not being unreasonable.

She's nailed her colours to the mast there.

Electrolens Tue 01-Nov-16 22:10:02

YANBU. But she maybe just doesn't realise it's been an unequal balance and enjoys coming to yours because you dish up amazing sups. If she's your best friend call and say 'can I come over on Friday'.

ChuckGravestones Tue 01-Nov-16 22:10:19

What are you supping, as a matter of interest?

SailingThroughTime Tue 01-Nov-16 22:10:30

Invite her for sipsies and ask her what's up.

DamePastel Tue 01-Nov-16 22:10:59

Is sups short for supper or is it sups like 'drinks'.
I'm not from the uk

Cucumber5 Tue 01-Nov-16 22:11:00

Next time she says 'ah we must do sups at mine' WHIP OUT YOUR DIARY and say when?!

ArmySal Tue 01-Nov-16 22:12:11

I'm lost on sups, Dame, and I'm from the UK.

Queenbean Tue 01-Nov-16 22:13:42

Dame sups is dinner and sips is drinks

Snozz is sleep, breks is breakfasts, shuh is shower

And one never says "going to town". You'd say "visiting the City"

I am from the UK and I am pleased to say I have never come across the word used in this way before. I hope never to do so again.

Come on, someone tell us how mean we are all being :P

Do you live in a dorm at Malory Towers?

Ledkr Tue 01-Nov-16 22:14:37

grin grin grin
You lot are on fire tonight!

Fancy a cuppa anyone?

Antifrank Tue 01-Nov-16 22:15:37

I always thought sups was slang for blow job

katienana Tue 01-Nov-16 22:15:38

It's what posh people call dinner. I have a friend who said this and we were like "huh? Supper is toast and a glass of milk!"

OhCallistoSolo Tue 01-Nov-16 22:15:59

Had no idea the word 'sups' is so offensive. Its just short for supper.

ParadiseCity Tue 01-Nov-16 22:16:01

Or see what happens at Crimbo?

Nurszilla Tue 01-Nov-16 22:17:09

You're not being unreasonable to be upset, however perhaps she can't bring herself to say "sups" and that is the reason for the lack of invite.
