I have name changed so as to not totally out myself.
DC leaves on a school trip to Italy tomorrow am.
The town they are staying in is 20km from the epicentre of todays 2 aftershocks (measuring 5.2 and 6.4).
So far we have heard nothing from school, WIBU to not send DC?
Or are we worrying about nothing?

Bet you are! Ours are due to visit Rome on Saturday.
They are going by coach, I am concerned the roads will be damaged and the last thing that region needs right now is coach loads of kids turning up.

Gosh, I hadn't heard they're had been another earthquake. I expect the school would have to do a risk assessment. Are they flying or going by coach? It would worry me, but doubt the school would go ahead if a danger. My friends daughters trip to Paris was postponed due to ferry strikes last year. My daughters trip went ahead , and I remember switching on the computer to check if she'd arrived and seeing that French taxi drivers were blocking all routes into Paris and setting cars on fire :o . She was fine though, seemed to avoid all the trouble.

I would contact the school with your concerns. I have had parents do so when organising trips with potential issues (Thatcher 's funeral was one) and we made amendments and reassured parents. I should think other parents will be contacting too.

I am in Rome - quakes were felt here but nothing reported damage wise so far. You may find the trip is postponed anyway OP. The TV news is saying schools in towns near the epicenter will be closed tomorrow- guessing they want to check for damage.

Wait and see what news is tomorrow - there is very little definite confirmation of damage so far - communication hindered by electricity blackouts, the dark and the fact is chucking it down. Will all be clearer in daylight and just praying it isn't like last time in August
