I think they're a waste of money and seem to be a way of encouraging people into parting with a lot of money for tat, or stuff that they may or may not want that is quite poor value, but they seem quite popular on here.

Someone said on a 'drowning in stuff' thread that they were shopping for people who wanted to buy stuff but had run out of ideas for things to buy.

Having said that, I have had the Hotel Chocolat subsription box on and off in the past, but then you knew what you were getting and it was generally better value than a lot of the stuff in the shop.

But random beauty products or stationery etc, no way.

My sister does a coffee one for me-it's lovely! But glossy box type ones? No way-a coral mini nail varnish and some weird gloop in a mini tube? For money? Nah.

I got DH a coffee subscriptions from Has Bean - he loved it and now buys up 4-5 bags at a time, whenever he runs out.

On the other hand - Graze boxes? We buy the nuts and seeds we actually like. Graze boxes add a lot horrible nuts, cost and packaging...

Am on the fence. Depends on the value you get for your subscription. The Hotel Chocolat one sounds good. Others look rubbish.

I can see why people love them. It's like buying yourself a surprise present every month. And I did subscribe to Glossybox a few years ago when I had PND and was in desperate need of treats.

Are they good value for money? Nope.
Do they contain products I'd choose to buy? Not really.

But if you have the disposable income, why not?

Ceic I agree about Graze. I bought some little plastic boxes about the same size as a graze box and fill them with mixtures of nuts, seeds and dried fruit. My DP and I take one to work every day.

They include a little story about the people who make each thing, and I put one thing from the box aside into a present drawer to then give as gifts. I luffs it and have discovered some amazing tea and chocolate producers from my boxes

But I did see one which is a monthly delivery of tampax. Their selling point was it would save you the 'embarrassment' of having to buy them in a shop. FFS

Some sound better than others. Graze boxes - Id probably scoff the lot in one sitting, so I tend to buy larger bags of nuts etc at Lidl and put some into little boxes for work.

I rather like the sound of Birch box - toying with the idea of a subscription for myself and maybe as a treat for my mum.

I get a razor one as for the life of me I never remember to buy replacement blades. Its £5 a month and I'm no longer plagued with blunt razor heads.
I'm well aware that it simply covers my are for being weirdly lazy and forgettable about shaving implements
